Florida Museum and Creative B host free movie series Fridays in July
Friday, July 5, 7 - 10pm

Friday nights July 5-26, the Florida Museum and Creative B will host free movie screenings and explore the balance between science and art. This year's films focus on Leonardo Da Vinci in honor of the 500th anniversary of his death and include a discussion with an expert panel. The panel discussion starts at 7 p.m., followed by the movie. The museum's permanent exhibits, except the “Butterfly Rainforest” and “Discovery Zone,” will be open to the public for extended hours until 10 p.m. Parental discretion is advised. Alachua County and the Gainesville Sports Commission recognized as top in market for their efforts in sports tourism for the State of Florida

Destin, FL –  The 2019 Florida Sports Summit hosted by the Florida Sports Foundation (FSF), the state’s leading sports promotion and development organization, brought together representatives from Florida’s 31 sports commissions and sporting events rights holders from around the Sunshine State, United States, and even Colombia. The Summit featured presentations, certifications courses, and a marketplace that allowed commissions and right holders to network, showcase each group’s future opportunities to host events, and encourage groups to Come Play in Florida.

To cap off the Summit, the Florida Sports Foundation held the Inaugural Larry Pendleton Dinner where it presented seven awards to recognize Florida communities and sports commissions for their outstanding efforts in sports tourism in the State of Florida.

The Gainesville Sports Commission (GSC) received two awards for Alachua County and their efforts in sport tourism in their community. The GSC was awarded Mid-Market Event of Year for the 2018 US Amateur Boys Basketball National Championship and the Mid-Market Venue of the Year for Legacy Park Multipurpose Center.

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA, (June 28, 2019) Dance Alive National Ballet’s (DANB) Resident School, Pofahl Studios, will be presenting 2 weeks of dance instruction from July 22 through August 2 at Pofahl Studios, 1325 NW 2 Street in Gainesville, FL. Classes will be conducted by 6 master teachers with international reputations and extraordinary careers. 

Join us for an amazing 2 weeks of technique classes and repertoire with in house performances each Friday. Faculty week 1 includes Gerard Ebitz and Julia Ponomareva for ballet and Jose Ramos and Kimmy Keck for contemporary.
