The Arvada Fire Protection District will conduct a regular election on May 5, 2020, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. At that time, one director will be elected for a 2-year term expiring in May 2022, and two directors will be elected for a 3-year term expiring in May 2023. Due to COVID-19 safety concerns, voters are encouraged to apply for an absentee ballot. However, in order to receive a ballot by mail, you must request one. Your completed ballot request form
should be returned by mail to: 7903 Allison Way, Arvada, CO 80005 by Friday, May 2. You may also scan and email your form to: [email protected].
The Apex Park and Recreation District will also be holding their regular special district Board of Director election on May 5. Again, to ensure your safety, voters should apply for an absentee ballot rather than vote in person.
You must apply for a ballot in order to receive one. Even if you are a registered absentee voter with Jefferson County; this is separate election and not coordinated with the county or state elections. The absentee form must be returned by mail or email and must be received by April 28, 2020.

City programs offer help for business community
The City of Westminster and their Economic Development team is looking ahead toward economic recovery efforts, and have identified a whole suite of resources and initiatives. The City of Arvada recently announced an initiative to support Arvada businesses in response to the COVID-19 health crisis. The program was developed in partnership with the Arvada Economic Development Association (AEDA), the Arvada Urban Renewal Authority (AURA) and other partners. The Arvada Emergency Business Recovery Initiative includes a suite of resources to support Arvada businesses and workers coping with the economic impacts of COVID-19.
Rachel Zenzinger
Rachel Zenzinger won election to the Colorado State Senate, representing District 19, in November 2016. She also served as Senator for SD19 in 2014. Sen. Zenzinger is a member of the Joint Budget Committee, the Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Vice Chair of the Statutory Revision Committee.
