Our Response to COVID-19: Information
Globally
Good evening,

June 30, 2020 -- The US is exploding with new coronavirus cases and the leading experts are unequivocal about our dire situation, even suggesting we could reach 100,000 new cases in the US if we do not take personal responsibility and start wearing masks, observe physical distancing, accelerate contact tracing and all other mitigation measures that had been imposed and respected in the early days of the pandemic. The spread is also either still accelerating or plateauing all over the word: in Brazil, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Colombia, Indonesia, Iraq, Oman, Bolivia. Here are today's global numbers:
  • COVID-19 Global cases: 10,583,932 (+176,077)
  • COVID-19 Global deaths: 513,861 (+5,874)
  • COVID-19 Global death rate: 4.86%
  • COVID-19 Global tests* (est.): 239,979,367 (+2,791,631)
  • COVID-19 Global positivity rate: 4.41%
  • COVID-19 Global single-day positivity rate: 6.31%

Dr. Anthony Fauci: U.S. Coronavirus Outbreak Could Top 100,000 New Cases A Day
The U.S. is "not in total control" of the coronavirus pandemic and daily new cases could surpass 100,000 infections per day if the outbreak continues on its current trend, White House health adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday at a Senate committee hearing.

The United States hits second worst daily record of 45,969 new cases as Americans take a record 1,022,509 COVID-19 tests in the last 24 hours

As the nation averages 43,069 new daily cases over the last 7 days, California, Texas, Florida, as well as smaller states (Oklahoma, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Utah) reach peak or near peak daily reports of new infections. Although testing has significantly expanded throughout the nation -- almost doubling from the daily average of 500K to 600K tests per day in the last month -- many states are still insufficiently testing as single-day positivity rates keep climbing in many of our nation's largest states (and smaller ones as well): 18.83% in Florida, 13.94% in Texas, 17.96% in South Carolina, 16.06% in Mississippi.
Texas data:

Trump's hope that COVID will 'go away' has gone away, Fauci reveals
People of good faith wanted to believe the coronavirus would be defeated by now, as President Donald Trump once predicted. But on Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious diseases specialist, warned a Senate committee that far-worse conditions loom without new efforts to reduce the spread.

“Clearly we are not in total control right now,” Fauci told the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. The number of new cases per day could reach 100,000 from the current 40,000, he said... Click Here

In California
California Coronavirus Update: Governor Gavin Newsom Promises “Tougher” Restrictions And “Enforcement” — Likely For Los Angeles — Coming Tomorrow
The chaos was appropriate as Newsom revealed the grim state of the pandemic in California. Accordingly, the governor said the state would get “tougher” in its approach. “We’ll be making a more formal and detailed announcement on enforcement tomorrow,” he promised. [...] “It’s family gatherings,” said Newsom, “where people let down their guard.” The governor was most concerned about people taking off masks, giving family members hugs and kisses. “Then all of a sudden, you see a spread,” he said. In the Central Valley
The Madera County Department of Public Health announced this evening that 31 more of our county's residents have been confirmed infected with COVID-19 today, bringing our cumulative cases to 519 in Madera and total deaths to 5. Once again, all seven counties did report new cases today, adding up to a new peak of 844 new infections and 12 new COVID-19 deaths. COVID-19 has killed 315 residents from our area of the central valley, of which the cumulative documented infections now total 17,823. Fresno county leads the 7 counties with 5,008 cases. Tulare county added 378 new cases today, by far the county's new peak and also mourns 4 new deaths in the county.

Note: The tests information was estimated because Tulare and Merced counties do not explicitly share the data (only occasionally in Merced press releases), however, the positivity rate is available in the Merced County dashboard and the state of California also publishes the Tulare positivity rate, which enabled me to estimate the tests quantities.
