Fire Prevention Week, Food Scrap Composting & More
All elementary students met firefighters from their local fire department and participated in activities to help them calm potential fears and stay safe in the event of a fire. MORE.

Supreme, Grit and Unity Take the Challenge!
“I have an idea!” “How about …” "Let’s try …” was heard throughout the Challenge Course at PNW BOCES where 7th grade teams Supreme, Grit, and Unity each spent a day. Students played games that nurtured teamwork, then used those skills to navigate through physical challenges.

"These skills help build a positive, supportive classroom environment," said Unity team leader leader Gregg Kastanis.

Emilia Camporese Recognized as Outstanding Educator
Emilia Camporese, who teaches Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry and Forensic Science, has received an Outstanding Educator Award from the University of Chicago. She was recommended by one of her former students.

"We’re extremely proud of her and her accomplishments as a member of the John Jay High School faculty." said Dr. Siciliano, principal of John Jay High School.
Everyone Is Invited to Celebrate School Spirit October 11 & 12
John Jay High School’s Homecoming celebration begins this Friday--the first athletic competition kicks off at 4:30 PM.

Saturday features Music on the Lawn from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, with eight musical performances. Games begin at 11 AM and run into the evening. A highlight is the Homecoming Halftime Float Parade during the Saturday evening football game.
