Update from Norwin School District
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Taylor
April 14, 2020
Dear Norwin Families and Community Members,

In order to provide structure for our students' learning experiences through the remainder of the school year, Norwin has created a “Continuity of Education Plan for Online Learning." I am very pleased to share with you that our plan was created as a collaborative effort between our administrators and teachers in an effort to best meet the needs of our students and families.

A copy of our Continuity of Education Plan for Online Learning is posted on our website and can be found by clicking here .

We know that transitioning to online learning has been daunting for both teachers and families. Therefore, in recognition of this fact, we are adjusting our instructional schedule for the remaining five weeks of instruction as noted in the enclosed chart. Please click here to view the instructional schedule for the remainder of the school year.

This adjustment will provide both students and teachers with a little “breathing room” each week while maintaining our continuity of instruction.

Please stay safe, healthy and #NorwinStrong!

Best regards,

Dr. Jeff Taylor

Mental Health Activities for Families and Children
Mental health affects how people think, feel and act. Therefore, taking good care of our mental health is just as important as having a healthy body.

Parents and families play an important role in promoting children’s mental health.

Towards the goal of trying to stay positive during the remainder of this pandemic, we'd like to share this infographic. We hope it is helpful for families.

Please click on the photo to enlarge it.
Along the same lines, there is a new Google Site for parents and staff that includes resources related to mental/behavioral health during the pandemic.

It was created by Norwin School District's psychologists, social worker, and behavioral consultant. This team of professionals plans to continue to add resources to the site.

Resources

Preparing for Online Instruction
NEW Norwin School District Daily Attendance Form
  • Beginning on March 30, 2020, and continuing each day during online instruction, families will be asked to complete a daily attendance form for each child in the family. The link to the attendance form will be included on the STREAM on each Google Classroom and can also be found here. We appreciate your assistance in completing this form for each child one time daily so that attendance can be entered and maintained into Skyward.

Norwin Lunches for Students in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program
  • Every Monday and Wednesday through the shutdown, the District will serve a bagged lunch from 11am - 1pm from the Norwin High School Auditorium doors (Door No. 6). The lunch program on Mondays will supply enough food for Monday and Tuesday, and the lunch program on Wednesdays will supply enough food for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
