Worship With Us
Join us for worship this Sunday morning at 10am! Our scripture passages are from Acts 9:36-42 (another act of resurrection with Tabitha/Dorcas surrounding by her female family and friends) and Luke 24:13-35 (The Road to Emmaus) with a sermon entitled Opened Eyes .

We will participate in a Mother’s Day Litany that takes into account the varieties of experience of women.

Our own Angela Chostner will share a bit of her faith via another of her angels – Respect .

Please invite someone to come with you.

When you sign your name on the pew pad this Sunday, please consider letting us know your top three hymns and songs from the red hymnal and blue songbook.

Potluck lunch at International Institute
Thu, Jun 13 | 11:30am – 1:10pm | International Institute - 3401 Arsenal St

PUCC is again partnering with our friends at Shaare Emeth for a fun interfaith lunch! Potlucks at the International Institute have become a “happening” that get rave reviews! Everyone who has participated in the past has thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The “experience” is this:

  1. Make a dish of your choice to feed (8-10-12) people. Exact amount to be determined later.
  2. Bring it to the International Institute on the day and at the time assigned.
  3. Help set up the buffet table.
  4. Mix and mingle with the New Americans while they and you share the meal.
  5. The time required is usually 11:30-1:00, with flexibility.

This is a great opportunity for the adult students at the Institute to practice their English with you…and for you to learn about these new immigrants/refugees to our country.

Dear friends in Christ,

Today Friday, the main mosque in Kilinochchi has been opened for public worship. My friend Pastor Sasi from Methodist Church, a Hindu priest from chinmaya Mission and myself have been there. I was asked to give a speech too.

It was a meaningful time and we invite all Muslims to work together and being truthful to each other.

Thank you
Blessings

From the United Church of Christ
The United Church of Christ is issuing an emergency $200,000 appeal to increase our International Disaster Relief Fund that responds to disasters around the world, including two deadly tropical cyclones that recently ripped through India and the Southern Hemisphere of Africa (Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi).

“Cyclone Kenneth destroyed everything that was left after Cyclone Idai hit,” said the Rev. Lucas Amosse, President of the United Church of Christ in Mozambique. “We do not know how we shall survive. Only God knows.”
Please give today. Your gift boosts our ability to help more than 500,000 people who are now displaced because of the devastation to their homes and communities.
Humor
Elephant:  Why do mother kangaroos hate rainy days?
Hippo:  I give up.
Elephant : Because their kids have to play inside!

Video
Two and a half minutes of a MOM video … I think you’ll chuckle.
Inspiration
I saw three properties (of creatures):
the first is, that God made it;
the second is, that God loveth it;
the third is, that God keepeth it.
But what beheld I therein?
Verily, the Maker, the Keeper, the Lover.

Please consider signing up to read scripture this spring or summer.
