New Publication Coming November 2021 ... Assiniboia Chamber Magazine
The Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that we are coming out with a new publication. The magazine will be distributed free of charge to all members, potential members, and government officials at all levels to promote the goals and needs of the Assiniboia Chamber. Distribution is planned for 4,000+ businesses in the West Winnipeg area.
The anticipated articles will highlight the accomplishments of the Assiniboia Chamber, as well as looking ahead to 2022 issues, industry news, and special achievements of our members.
The magazine will prove beneficial time and time again in promoting and publicizing our members’ valuable contribution to our community.

Province Announces Consultation Plan For Mental Health, Wellness and Recovery

The Manitoba government has begun the consultation phase on the development of a five-year action plan for growing and adapting the work needed to support a strong, coordinated system for prevention, treatment and recovery, Mental Health, Wellness and Recovery Minister Audrey Gordon announced today.
“As a government, we are committed to making mental health, wellness and recovery services coordinated, effective and results oriented,” said Gordon. “Several reports have been commissioned in the last several years, and many of these recommendations have been implemented. We are building on this work to create a five-year action plan for mental health, wellness and recovery to inform priority areas and make it easier for Manitobans to find and access the right care at the right time and in the right place.”

Canadian Chamber Encouraged By New Border Measures For Fully Vaccinated Travelers, But Questions Remain

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO, Perrin Beatty, issued the following statement on today’s new border measures for fully vaccinated travelers.
“As Canada moves from recovery into growth, having workable border measures for fully vaccinated travellers is critical for Canadian businesses. While many questions remain about how this partial reopening will work, we welcome today’s announcement as a positive step towards making safe international mobility a reality.
Businesses have been calling for predictable, science-based border measures. We are encouraged that the government is modifying quarantine rules for vaccinated travellers and enabling more airports to receive international travellers. However, we are concerned that the costly and cumbersome procedures that remain for fully vaccinated travellers will discourage short visits, including many business trips.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce Announces BIPOC Leadership and Inclusion Council
Diversity initiatives across the country are playing a part in creating a more socially inclusive economy. Small businesses on every Main Street in Canada can play an important role, but they often don’t know where to start. The Canadian Chamber’s new BIPOC and Inclusion Council is here to help them.
“We may be an organization purpose-built to bring various perspectives together towards a common goal, but our diversity and inclusion initiatives really needed representative voices and lived experiences to help guide us down the path of meaningful change.
