HAVE A WONDERFUL FALL BREAK!
We hope you have a wonderful fall break! We hope you enjoy the time with your family. School will resume on Monday, October 21.
CELEBRATING LITERACY WEEK
Gold Rush engaged in a variety of activities for the District's literacy week including serving as reading detectives and listening to guest readers. Gold Rush was recognized as being the top school in the District for book circulation. Students check out on average 10 books a week! We thank our librarian, Mrs. Golish, for making the library a welcoming place and our school community for supporting literacy.
SCIENTIFIC METHOD S.T.E.A.M. LAB
In the S.T.E.A.M. lab students are using the scientific method to improve objects they create using Lego robotics. Students begin by building a variety of objects, such as a pinwheel, a top, or a car. They then research, hypothesize, experiment and analyze to improve the object. Over the course of a week students work with partners to complete the following challenges:

Build a pinwheel with wings that will turn faster.

Build a spinning device that can make a spinning top spin.

Create a car that will move farther and faster.

Students of all ages have enjoyed engaging in the problem solving process. We are impressed with students' collaboration and creativity!
FALL CONFERENCES
Thank you PTO and parent volunteers for our conference meals!
They were greatly appreciated!
HALLOWEEN LOGISTICS
Halloween is right around the corner and students are already asking how we will celebrate at Gold Rush. Halloween breakfast parties will be held on Thursday, October 31, from 8:40-9:30 AM. It is recommended that party treats be balanced with both nutritious options and sweets.  Our school parade will follow at 9:30-9:45 AM.  The parade route is included below.  Students who do not wish to participate in Halloween activities can rejoin the class at 9:45 AM.  We will resume with a normal school day schedule at that time.

We encourage students to be creative with their costumes, but safety remains our number one priority.  Please adhere to the following guidelines when selecting a costume:

* Students should come dressed in their costume and bring a change of clothing.

* Costumes can not be demeaning, offensive or promiscuous.

* Face paint, face masks and weapons are not permitted.
