  • Attendees will hear from Hon. Ryan McMahon, the Onondaga County Executive, on new county initiatives and hear his philosophy when it comes to Downtown Syracuse. The county executive will share his perspective about how what happens here, in Downtown Syracuse influences our region.
  • Danny Liedka, President and CEO of Visit Syracuse, will speak about tourism and the draw that Downtown Syracuse has in bringing millions of people into the center of our city each year.
  • One element that's emerging as a draw is the lens through which Hollywood and filmmakers are eyeing Downtown. Attendees will hear insight from Eric Vinal, the Vice President of Film, TV & Entertainment for Visit Syracuse. Vinal will speak about the film industry, the appeal of Downtown Syracuse as a filming location, and the dollars the industry pumps back into our community.

filmFilm Update: The Binge
Hanover Square filming wraps up tonight

Filming for the American High production of The Binge has taking place throughout Central New York - including places in Downtown Syracuse - over the last three weeks. Most recently, film crews set up in Hanover Square to film a musical number and party scene. The Binge is an adventure-comedy that follows the story of three friends in the year 2032, where all drugs and alcohol are illegal, with the exception of one night each year. 

Film crews will be in Hanover Square again tonight (Thursday). Please note, no parking is allowed on the 100 blocks of East Genesee Street and East Water Street until filming has concluded. Streets are expected to open tomorrow (Friday). 

Crunch2019-20 Syracuse Crunch Season
Home Opener: Saturday, October 19

The  Syracuse Crunch return to the War Memorial Arena next Saturday night (October 19) for the Home Opener against the Charlotte Checkers. 

Eight players will don a Syracuse Crunch jersey for the first time to start the 2019-20 season. The newest members join a strong core of returning players, including the 2018-19 AHL Rookie of the Year Alex Barre-Boulet. In addition to the new faces on the ice, the Crunch also welcome Stacy Roest as the team's new general manager, Eric Veilleux as an assistant coach and Joe Palmer as the goaltending and video coach.

The Downtown Committee and Wednesday Walk Series crew would like to thank the Crunch for hosting the last Wednesday Walk of the 2019 season, on Wednesday evening, October 9!

This October, breweries across the country are helping to make an impact on the global water crisis. Regional breweries, including Talking Cursive Brewing Company (map), are dedicating a portion of their beer sales between October 21st and 27th to Drink Local Think Global, an organization dedicated to providing clean water to those in need.
