GOAL:
Join North Carolina Wildlife Federation, Plastic Ocean Project, and hundreds of wildlife volunteers statewide to
collect 5,000 pounds of trash and raise $25,000
to protect, conserve, and restore wildlife and their habitats. An anonymous donor has agreed to match dollar for dollar up to $25,000 and NCWF will plant one tree for every 25 pounds of trash collected.
HOW:
You can safely follow social distancing rules and CDC guidelines by wearing gloves and a mask and pick up trash around your community. You can then organize the trash into your recycling or trash bin. Every bag of trash is estimated to hold 20 pounds of trash. If 250 volunteers pick up a bag of trash each and raise $1 for every pound of trash collected we'll reach the goal!
WHEN:
You can collect litter and trash around your neighborhood or community every day between May 11 and 17 or just focus on one day that week. Share your progress too! Share a picture of yourself, trash collected, or where you found the trash along with the estimated pounds by either tagging NCWF on Facebook (

WHERE:
Your neighborhood or community. Litter tends to collect along busy roads, shopping centers, waterways, and parking lots. Or maybe you notice it in other places.
