Clue on Stage - September 17 - October 1 - Directed by Nick Brown
It's a dark and stormy night, and you've been invited to an unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well . . . dead. So whodunnit? Join the iconic oddballs known as Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, and Mustard as they race to find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up. Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, Clue is a madcap comedy that will keep you guessing until the final twist.

Dracula Down for the Count - October 15 - 31 - Directed by Jennifer Levens
Taking place years after the events of the original Dracula story you know. Find out what happens when the main romantic couple is STILL engaged after 20 years. Why is he so scared to commit? Is Dracula as charming as before? Perhaps even more so because he may have turned his deadliest enemy into his BFF! The classic turns to the fun side in this uproariously funny adaptation from the writer of “Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van” and “The (somewhat) True Tale of Robin Hood”.

It's a Wonderful Life - A Live Radio Show - December 3-18 - Director TBA.
This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.

Get to Know the RP Board of Directors
Larry Morgon- Board Vice President
Larry moved to Redding from Southern California in late 1980 to accept a job as a city planner with the City of Redding. He retired in 2009 as the Redevelopment Manager and was deeply involved in downtown revitalization for a good part of his career. Key downtown projects included removing the roof over the mall, helping with the Cascade Theatre renovation, and the Redding Hotel rehabilitation. He first became involved with Riverfront as a liaison between the City and Riverfront while helping to relocate the theatre from E. Cypress Avenue to downtown. Since he retired from the City, he has continued to support Riverfront as a volunteer managing the construction effort at 1950 California street and now as a Board member. Larry keeps downtown revitalization squarely in his sights. In addition to his board involvement with Riverfront, he serves on the board of Viva Downtown and is a member of the Cascade Theatre Advisory Committee. He is excited to help Riverfront support the revitalization efforts taking place downtown and grow Riverfront’s participation in the Redding Cultural District. Larry enjoys playing golf, going on RV trips with his wife, Diane, and his family, reading, and playing guitar and ukulele. In stark contrast to the leanings of most of his local friends and acquaintances, he is an avid Rams, Dodgers, and Lakers fan.
Ronda Alvey - Board Secretary
Ronda Alvey is the wife of board president Darryll Alvey, the mom of four adult children, and "Gaga" to six darling grandkids who are the light of her life. She is one of the founders and the editor-in-chief of Enjoy Magazine and loves sharing wonderful stories about the North State. She became involved with Riverfront Playhouse in 2014 when she was asked to produce their playbills and newsletters. In 2018, she was invited to join the board. She serves on the Viva Downtown board and is an advisory committee member for the new Visit Redding brand. She enjoys spending time with her family, long weekends at the redwood coast, live theater, and exploring new places in her free time. She's excited to be part of Riverfront and looks forward to bringing the community together to entertain, create, learn, and enrich lives in the beautiful new space.
Marla O'Brien - Volunteer Coordinator
Marla is very excited about re-joining her first theatre family at Riverfront Playhouse! She was there at the beginning when the theatre first opened its doors in 1981, and over a seven-year period, was an actor, director, tech operator, backstage crew member, board member, and artistic director. Over the past 30+ years, she lived in Chico and Paradise, performing many of the same roles for community theatres in those towns. Riverfront Playhouse holds a very special place in her heart, and she hopes you will join her in the fun by becoming a volunteer and experiencing the magic first-hand! You may contact her by calling the theatre at 530-221-1028 or by sending an e-mail to [email protected].
Looking for Volunteers
Riverfront Playhouse is pretty special, thanks to the many volunteers who have been the heart of the theatre and have helped to make it a joyful experience for more than 40 years. We're getting ready to open our doors and are reaching out again. Our immediate volunteer needs are tech (sound and lights), concessions, ticket sales, ushers, and light landscape maintenance. If interested, please get in touch with Marla O'Brien and let her know your interests/skills.
Raise funds for your group or organization. “Buyout” the theatre and share an evening of entertainment with your friends and colleagues.
You “buy out” 92 seats in the theatre for a set fee of $650 for one performance, or musicals fee cost is $750. With 92 seats available, that is a cost to you of only $7.07/seat. You then sell the tickets at whatever price you choose, usually $15 to $20 or more if you wish. At $15, you can make up to $730, and at $20, up to $1190. More seats are available if you wish, up to our 149-seat capacity, for purchase at $7.07 per seat. Performances are available Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Tuesdays during the Christmas performance.
You may bring food to serve before the play and during intermission at the tables we provide. At the new theatre, the concessions area will not be open for your use. You can provide your own non-alcoholic drinks in coolers if you wish. For alcoholic beverages, we provide a server, sell drinks to your patrons, and keep the proceeds at a cost to you of
$25. If you wish to serve your own alcoholic beverages, you can purchase a one-time license from ABC for $50 for beer and wine or $75 for beer, wine, and spirits (available to non-profits groups only) but will have to serve out of coolers.
We at Riverfront hope that you have a successful event. For further information or if you have any questions, please get in touch with our buyout coordinator Larry Morgon at (530) 941-3617 or
e-mail at [email protected]
