Jill's December 2020 Vision:

Grace
Thoughts...

December: A soft landing to a tumultuous year.

That is my wish for you this month: Grace.

Grace in difficult moments, with difficult people, during difficult times. For the grace you offer now, is the foundation on which you build your future.

A Course in Miracles writes (with my own tweaking to fit this space): Grace is the natural state. When you are not in a state of grace, you are out of your natural environment and do not function well. .. Everything you do becomes a strain....There is no point in trying. A person is happy only when he or she knows they are one with God. That is the only environment in which you will not experience strain, because that is where you belong. It is also the only environment that is worthy of you, because your own worth is beyond anything you can comprehend."

Adopt Grace this month- in your weeks, in your days, in your moments.

Do this for your self and for others.

It is your birthright, regardless of race, regardless of religion, of what you look like, or believe it or not, how you behave.

Feel the peace and the power of this beautiful season, at the end of a challenging year, by threading grace through your moments. You are worthy of experiencing that power.

Trust that it is time.

Enjoy December and when you have a moment, head over to my new BLOG, to post a comment...

All good things...

What we're reading this month and why you should too...

"Everyday Grace:
Having Hope, Finding Foregiveness and Making Miracles"

by Marianne Williamson

This is a great book to read during December. The back of the book states: "Williamson guides us back to our spiritual source, exploring the ways in which we can nurture a thriving soul in a harsh world. The large and small difficulties of our days challenge us to open our hearts and minds. And with an attitude of hope, a call to forgive, a celebration of miracles, Williamson helps us find our sacred footing on ordinary ground. For no matter where we are or what we are doing, there is the opportunity to be happy."

Amen.

Happy Reading!

December Astrological Forecast

12/14 New Moon Solar Eclipse (conjunct sun in Sagittarius)
Eclipses are a turning point and with a conjunction to Mercury we may be challenged to raise our perspective and see a bigger picture. (Mercury rules thoughts and Sagittarius is about expanding our horizons through higher learning, spirituality or travel). Higher truths should be revealed as we get more clarification on the lessons of the last six months and from the recent Mercury Retrograde. Themes that come up on this dramatic new moon eclipse will play out for the next six months. Remember to stay centered and observe rather than engaging or emotionally attaching to any intense energies or exchanges.

12/30 Full Moon in Cancer (opposite sun in Capricorn):
Full moons are a time of culmination and release and with this final one this year we can use the time to meditate on what we’ve learned and what we need to leave behind in 2020 to move into a stronger and more secure state of being in 2021. Opposite the Sun in Capricorn, the masculine, unemotional and practical sign of law and order, the full moon is shining a light on all the old systems, structures, rules and ways of life that are changing. It reminds us that institutions, cultural past times and outmoded norms of society may alter or fall apart, but emotional security is always something we can maintain within. Cancer is a feminine sign about self care, nurturing and protecting the ones you love. This healing energy also encourages us to be more humanistic and compassionate to both ourselves and others in all our dealings.

The Homeopathic remedy you could be using...

Rhus Tox

  • A go-to for joint stiffness (Arnica is for muscles.)

  • People who benefit from Rhus Tox are helped by continued movement–the initial first steps in the morning are stiff but as they get going and have continued movement, they feel fine. Think “the rusty gate” syndrome.

  • Another make-up of individuals who might feel better after taking Rhus Tox are those who are usually always helped by heat, such as a hot shower, sauna or heating pad.

  • Also, they worsen from humidity. You would think if better by heat, they’d do well with humidity; however, they’re more like a human barometer and can feel the weather like no other.

  • When Springtime comes, this remedy is a go-to for poison ivy, sumac and oak rashes. For chronic sufferers or ones where their work involves daily contact, take 1 pellet of 30C once each month, March–October, and watch your eruptions/episodes decrease.

*Jill's Note: Rhus Tox is great for arthritic symptoms and helps me on an as-needed basis in order to keep moving with more flexibility and ease.

Essential oils you need to know about...

Peace & Calming®

A blend of: Tangerine peel oil (Citrus reticulata), Orange peel oil (Citrus aurantium dulcis), Ylang ylang flower oil (Cananga odorata), Patchouli oil (Pogostemon cablin), and Blue tansy oil (Tanacetum annuum)
100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oil

This fragrant oil promotes relaxation and a deep sense of peace and emotional well-being as it helps to dampen tensions and uplift spirits. It can be a welcoming addition before work or school, added during playtime with the kids or used as a prelude to a nighttime routine. Its calming effect helps to lessen everyday pressures.

How to Use:
  • Apply one drop to the desired area as needed. I like to apply on each wrist, rub together, then inhale.
  • One drop massaged into the bottom of each foot for a peaceful night's rest.
  • Diffuse in diffuser for 1-3 hours as desired.
  • To calm pets such as during storms, apply one drop to the inside of the outer ear flap (Do Not Drop Into Ear Canal) and rub gently.

Jill's Note: Oils make GREAT stocking stuffers and drop-off gifts to those we hold dear.

Dress to Express

Items to have on your holiday list:

A "shacket" is a great new style to bring to your wardrobe. A shacket is a slightly oversized shirt that can be worn over a lot of different outfits like a jacket. Have fun with it. A tweed or checked shacket is perfect for smarter settings. You can put it over a fun, flowy dress and a pair of over-the-knee boots. Or you can put it with a turtleneck, your favorite denim pants and a pair of combat boots. This is a great addition for those of us that don’t like “bulky” winter coats.

Another great layering piece is the “Snood.” Snoods are like a tubular scarf and a cowl neck. Snoods offer fashion, warmth, and function. A snood will update any outfit. You can wear it with a work outfit to add some color to your wardrobe. Or add it to a casual outfit such as jeans, a turtleneck and a shacket. You can also wear it around your neck or over your head like a hood. They come in all different colors and prints. I've found some pretty and reasonably priced snoods at Anthropologie.

I've also been thinking about some comfy but pretty holiday outfits depending on whether we stay in or go out with the current situation of COVID. If you stay local but still want to dress up, I highly suggest a pair of sequined joggers. I found a pair at redress.com that are absolutely adorable. They would be perfect for New Year’s Eve as well!

Seasonal Recipe

I mentioned this in my Thanksgiving podcast and
wanted to share the love for this month's holiday season!

Sticky Toffee Pudding
Adapted from Five Points restaurant in New York City

Pudding:
1 cup boiling water
1 container pitted dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1 stick butter, room temp
5 Tbsp. sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Toffee sauce:
1/2 pint cream
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
Whipped cream for topping

1.) To make pudding: Preheat oven to 350. Butter a high-sided 9-inch round baking pan; line bottom with waxed paper. In a medium bowl, pour water over dates; stir in baking soda, and let stand until dates soften, about 5 minutes. In another medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
2.) In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add in eggs, one at a time, and mix until almost smooth. With mixer on low, beat in flour mixture until just combined; add date mixture and vanilla until blended.
3.) Transfer batter to prepared pan. Bake until top feels firm, about 30 minutes.
4.) Meanwhile, to make toffee sauce: In a medium saucepan, bring heavy cream and light brown sugar to a boil, stirring occasionally. Add butter and boil 3 minutes.
5.) Remove pudding from oven; let stand 5 minutes. Place waxed paper over top of pudding, and unmold by inverting pudding onto a plate, invert again onto a serving plate, top side up. Using a fork, poke holes in surface of pudding so toffee sauce will seep evenly. Spoon 6 Tbsp. sauce, one at a time, over top. Serve remaining sauce alongside warm pudding, with a bowl of whipped cream (homemade even better!).

This is so freaking good, I'm making it again for Christmas. Enjoy!
Fitness

Give yourself some added rest and additional time off this month.
Maybe you do 5 days of exercise instead of 7.
Maybe you work out 3 days instead of 5.

Perhaps you incorporate yoga by the tree with candles in the window while watching the Hallmark Channel.

Consider adopting a less-is-more attitude this month so that you can widen your lens on the definition of abundance--stairs done well is exercise all throughout the day, for example.

Rest is key. For healing, for restoration, for preparing the foundation for expansion.

Congratulate yourself on a a year of whatever added exercise you have done, so that you build on that confidence.

And if you haven't done much, then go for a walk and spend time in nature this month--walking, running, walking with a friend, your partner, your dog.

Nature brings not only fresh, crisp air but also: Grace. Clarity. Perspective.
All while you are getting some cardio and burning those extra carbs we're all enjoying this month!
