CHAMBER UPDATES | JULY 28, 2021
|
|
Chamber Members,
Life is short. We have all heard that plenty of times and likely said it at various points as well. This past week, my friend, author and motivational speaker Gary Moore succumb to stomach cancer after being diagnosed in Feb 2020; Gary would have been 67 on July 21st which is when his family chose to have his "celebration of life" event. Gary wanted no part of condolences as he went out among the most positive people that I've ever known; he battled from the first diagnosis until his last days. My dad's wife is currently going through end-of-life issues as well at age 86; dementia has set in and her quality of life has greatly diminished in the last couple of months.
Are you asking yourself yet, "Why is Dave sharing this in a monthly chamber newsletter? It doesn't seem the right place to do so..." Well, the fact of the matter is that I've shared several personal stories about myself in the last 18 months in the hopes that you'll get to know me more and in turn share your stories as well. Many of you have done so in celebration of events (milestone anniversaries, promotions, kid’s pictures or grandchild births) and many share your need for family prayer for one challenge or another. We have our respective businesses to run and families to care for. When coupling challenges in both personal and professional settings, we often hit a breaking point and are in need of help.
The family/caring atmosphere that we continue to cultivate through the Colerain Chamber is good for business and for us personally; many of you have given me positive affirmation of that. If you've gotten involved in a TEAMS small group, you're likely experiencing this already. If you have built business friendships through the chamber over the last several years or recent months, you know how much leaning on someone else means. Programs will continue to form like our Growth Forum, the Non-Profit panel, and other initiatives that are innovative for our membership, but at the heart of it all is a caring spirit among those doing business in the Colerain community.
In August, we will ask you to step out of your comfort zone and celebrate with us at our Third Thursday networking event which will be hosted by chamber leader Arlington Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home (information and registration below). We promise to be respectful of everyone's personal feelings about death and dying, but longtime member Arlington wants to demonstrate that the ever-important funeral ritual is evolving into a more personalized “celebration of life” where, for instance, an avid golfer’s service can include golf games, drinks, food, and meaningful conversation all within the setting of a funeral home. Arlington’s memorial park is beautiful and the funeral home campus and facilities provide a perfect backdrop for creating evocative remembrance experiences and a chance to welcome our latest members recently joining the chamber.
Finally, as if I haven't said so enough times, there is still room on the BB Riverboat for you and your staff. Spouses and significant others are welcome for this adult only event on Friday August 6th. There will be food & drink, music & dancing, fireworks after the Red's game, and an opportunity to enjoy the city of Cincinnati on the Ohio River. Details are linked below; we have nearly 100 people signed up already, and it promises to be a special event.
As always, let me know how we can help you and your business succeed.
All the best!
Dave

Do you know what it TEAMS stands for?
(Together Everyone Achieves More Support)
Using our Support-Connect-Celebrate foundational Core Focus, each team will have a different personality, meeting pace, and participation experience based on the leadership of that group and its participants.
Participating in chamber events as a small group is greatly encouraged. If you have been contacted but have not responded, this is a great time to do so. Please contact the chamber office if you have any questions about how to plug in.
