Please let us know if you would like to get more involved, we would be happy to hear from you!
September Builds
September 7, 8
Rosenthal Family & Friends
Although it was the hottest build in our history, the Ríos López family has a beautiful new home. It was so hot the master carpenters had to take breaks to dump water on themselves! Thank you to the Rosenthal team for your dedication to this family!
September 21, 22
Franklin Family & Friends
Evelín graced the team with a beautiful speech in the closing ceremony, recognizing the detail-oriented dedication to building her family a beautiful home. She also kept the builders well-nourished with delicious burritos!
Upcoming Events
Candy Drive
Do you have too much candy? Help fill piñatas with your leftover or unwanted Halloween candy! Feel free to drop off any candy at our donation sheds in Solana Beach or during the candy drives at local high schools (CCA, UCHS, SDA) on the friday right after Halloween. We appreciate your help filling piñatas for our holiday parties!
1,000 Hats
A few months ago, we received a donation of 1,000 hats which have protected us from the sun on builds and have travelled all the way to Veracruz, Mexico! Amada and Gersom Ayala have been working in Veracruz for the past month, leading workshops in various different churches and community centers. They were able to bring dozens of hats to Veracruz where the sun is very strong and will protect those who work in the fields during the day. We are incorporating this donation as a way to teach about the importance of sun protection.

Despensas de Luz
Meet Our Families
Check out this video to meet the families involved in our Despensas de Luz program at our Faro de Luz community center. Whether you are a group, business, family, or an individual, you can sponsor monthly groceries for a family and build a relationship with them. As our Faro de Luz community center grows, so does the need for support. Amazing progress has been seen by our families and deep relationships have been formed. Read the letter below from a girl in a family who is being sponsored.
"I want to thank you because you have helped us so much. I love you so much and I feel very proud of you. When I grow up I want to work like you, building houses with Casas de Luz. I want to be a successful worker so that I can buy my mom land and build her a house. I hope I never lose our friendship, I love you so much."
Donations
Donation Spotlight
Now that it is October and the cold is coming, community members need are in need of warm clothes. We would love any donation of jackets, long-sleeve shirts, and anything to keep our community members warm!
Donation Sheds at St. James Catholic Church

Sheds are at the end of the parking lot of the church if coming from the North. If you are coming from the South, take Via de la Valle and drive towards the ocean. On Del Mar Downs Road, turn right and continue until the end of the road where you will turn left. Drive left up the hill and the sheds will be on your left! There is a rope protecting our sheds from being a dump zone, so feel free to drop off your  usable donations right there!   Please contact us so we know to expect it!
