UCC Brief – Stop Nord Stream 2

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) calls on the international community to explicitly voice its opposition to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and work with allies in the US Congress, the European Union, and Ukraine to ensure the pipeline is never completed or operationalized.

According to numerous news sources, the Biden administration and Germany have agreed on terms that would allow the pipeline to be completed. The implementation of any arrangement that would allow the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to come online would strengthen Russia’s energy leverage over Europe, and seriously undermine Ukraine’s security.

DONOR'S CORNER
Inspired by the young generation!
It is always inspiring to see the young generation's passion and willingness to support and work for our Ukrainian Canadian Community.

Today I want to introduce you to Danya Wasylyk - UCC donor, supporter, and staff member. It is my privilege to work with Danya since she always brings positive energy, an abundance of creative ideas, and a deep understanding of her generation, especially on social media.

When I asked Danya why she donates to UCC, she said: "I donated because I believe in what UCC does and is doing. Their mission and vision statement shows the dedication the organization has in promoting Ukrainian Canadian leadership within Canada. Seeing all the hard work that goes on in the background encourages me to do more in the hromada and support organizations such as UCC."

Can we do Better?:
Erasure and Myths of Ukrainian-Indigenous Relations in Canada
Ukrainian immigrants have made Canada their home since 1891 and many relied on the kindness of the Indigenous peoples they encountered to make it through their first winter and beyond. But somehow, in making Canada our home, we erased the Indigenous peoples whose knowledge and lands were integral to our ancestors’ survival and success from our stories.
This presentation will share some of the stories of Ukrainians and Indigenous peoples that have been recovered and seeks to answer the question, can we do better when we tell our stories of these lands?
