The 2020 Census is coming!

The 2020 Census is closer than you think. Here are some things you need to know:

- Everyone counts: The census counts every person living in the United States once, only once, and in the right place.
- It's about fair representation: Every 10 years, the results of the census are used to reapportion the House of Representatives, determining how many seats each state gets.
- It's in the Constitution: The U.S. Constitution mandates that everyone in the country be countered every 10 years. (The first census was in 1790!)

Take part in your civic duty, and say "I COUNT!" For more information, please visit  www.census.gov.

Art in the Classroom

We are looking for volunteers for this fun program!

You do  NOT  need to know anything particular about art, as all the materials, lessons and project ideas are provided for you.

Our goal is to provide an art history program that offers Jefferson School students a snapshot of prominent works of art by a wide range of famous artists.

The kids really love this program, but we need to secure volunteers for each grade and classroom in order to make it a success!!

With gratitude, Your Jefferson School AIC co-chairpersons,
Kristin Lester ([email protected]) and  Jenny Chismark ([email protected])

Event Date: February 28th
Donations Due: February 28th

We hope your child can participate in this year's Kids Heart Challenge! Register online here or fill out the form that came home in your child's folder. Thank you for your past donations and your continued generosity!
Message from the Nurse

One in four of all schoolchildren (25%) in the U.S. has a vision problem significant enough to affect their learning.* You spend a lot of time with your child every day, so you may notice signs that indicate your child may have difficulty with his vision.
A child may need glasses if she or he:
  • Closes or covers one eye when reading.
  • Squints, Rubs eyes or Sits too close to the TV, book or digital screen.
  • Blinks more when reading or when looking frequently a digital screen.
Attached, please find additional information regarding what to look for and what you can do if you think your child needs an eye exam.
