Join Banneker-Douglass Museum as they celebrate “GivingTuesday,” a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities. To recognize the occasion, BDM Executive Director Chanel Compton will join special guest, Nikki Brooks, BDM Black Vote Mural Project exhibiting artist and educator, as she gives viewers a sneak peek of "Morning Discourse," a performance art production, filmed on site at the Breonna Taylor mural in Annapolis, Maryland.

This virtual event will provide an opportunity for viewers to learn about the important work BDM and the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture (MCAAHC) are doing in the area of anti-racism.
Virtual Lecture - Eliza Hamilton: Patriot, Wife, Widow, Warrior

So begins the novel My Dear Hamilton, the only book in fiction - or non-fiction - to recount the untold story of the entirety of the life of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, wife of Alexander Hamilton and a Founding Mother, who was a patriot in her own right and a little-known warrior in her husband's quest to form a more perfect union. New York Times bestselling author Laura Kamoie will discuss the history behind and writing of her novel.

Virtual Tour of the Jacob Lawrence “Hiroshima” Exhibition

The Jacob Lawrence exhibition at St. John’s College’s Mitchell Gallery features 31 graphic works created between 1983 and 1997 and includes his “Genesis” series of eight prints, 10 prints from the “Toussaint L’Ouverture” series, and his “Hiroshima” series of eight prints, and a collection of five other of Lawrence’s most significant prints.

Join a virtual tour of the current “Hiroshima” exhibition followed by a discussion of Hiroshima by John Hersey, led by Art Educator Lucinda Edinberg. This event is free. Registration is required.

It’s a mystery to everyone!

When you can’t be with art this year, bring the art straight to your house! Maryland Federation of Art is hosting their our first ever mystery grab-box event, where you receive a new piece of art randomly sent straight to you just in time for the holidays.

Purchase a box before December 5th to receive a new piece of art for your collection – whether this is your first or your one hundredth piece, you never know what you’ll get in the box!

Boxes are $50 each and can be purchased at MFA's In the Box.

How much money has your non-profit raised by email in one month? Vanessa Chase Lockshin is here to share her email writing and storytelling tips that helped one of her clients raise more than $190k through email in September 2020.

Email fundraising is far from dead. In fact, it's probably the best digital direct response fundraising option for non-profits. But it takes a lot more than just sending an email with a donate button to raise a lot of money from your email list.

During this webinar Vanessa will show you examples of exceptionally well performing fundraising emails and will share email writing quick wins you can implement during your year-end campaign.

MSAC's 2021-2022 Folklife Apprenticeship Applications Now Open
MSAC is pleased to announce that applications are open for 2021-2022 Folklife Apprenticeships. This grant supports traditional arts education through the teaching of skills from a master artist to a learner artist. Grants are $5,000 each, with $4,000 disbursed to the master artist and $1,000 to the learner artist during a one-year teaching period. Applications are due Friday, January 15, at 5 p.m. Read the Folklife Apprenticeship guidelines and evaluation criteria here.

Maryland Traditions, the traditional arts program of MSAC, has given Folklife Apprenticeships annually since 2004. See a list of past recipients at msac.org/grants/folklife-apprenticeship.

Folklife Apprenticeships are distinct from registered apprenticeships offered through the Maryland Apprenticeship Training Program, which supports workforce development.

Registration is now open for our Creating Programs for Teachers and Students online workshop! This former two-day, in person workshop has been transformed into a four-week, online workshop that will show you how to craft onsite, outreach, and virtual programming that fits the current needs of the educational community. Registration is limited to 25 participants so register early!

Strengthening Your Organization's Impact

Join the History Leadership Institute online! AASLH is excited to introduce a new online course, “Strengthening Your Organization’s Impact,” as part of our suite of programming for mid-career professionals. This two-month online course intended for history professionals with at least three years of experience will connect you with experts from across the field to think about how you can enhance the impact of your institution.
