A Message from our President/CEO:
Dear Friends,

This month has been all about numbers for United Way as we have gathered and been analyzing the reports that our 31 funded partners submit to us at year-end. We also have been reading and sharing some program success stories too, reminding all of us that there are faces behind every data point we collect. While you will hear more at our United Way Campaign Kick-Off Breakfast on August 24th and throughout our new campaign year, I wanted to share a few things with you now.

  • Last year, United Way’s funded partner network impacted over 55,000 local lives! That’s a 31% increase from the year prior.
  • There were 3,375 calls into our 2-1- 1 Information and Referral line, with the top requests for resources being for health needs and income, housing, and food supports.
  • Volunteer hours collected through United Way’s Get Connected portal offered a value of over $188,000 to our local nonprofits.

We have many other great opportunities available to learn more about United Way and the work we do across the tri-states, so I challenge each of you to get involved! Register to volunteer. Participate in your employees' United Way workplace campaign or donate to impact a life on your own! Share this newsletter or something you’ve learned about United Way with someone new. Visit us at Over the Edge on September 10th and at the Jake Dodds concert on Oct 1, both benefitting United Way. Get involved by signing up for the 21 Day Equity Challenge. Follow us on social media to stay informed.

Give. Advocate. Volunteer!

Sincerely,
Danielle Peterson,
President/CEO

Interns Wanted!
We accept interns year-round for two different positions within our office.

Community Building & Impact/Volunteer Engagement Intern

Development & Marketing Intern

Why Intern at United Way?
"Interning at the United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States was a great experience! They were flexible with my schedule and worked with me to ensure that my internship met the requirements set forth by my college for a Public Relations major. They allowed me the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects to build my portfolio and I was able to learn a lot about the world of nonprofit marketing! It was a great way to earn college credit while making an impact on my community!"- Jenna Meehan, Summer 2020 Development & Marketing Intern

Board Members Needed

Dubuque County Early Childhood, is seeking board members. The board receives state funding to build community partnerships and programs that serve children age birth to five.
At this time, the board is seeking male citizens living in Dubuque County who are interested in appointments to 3-year terms. This is due to Iowa's gender balance law for public boards. However, female citizens also are welcome to apply for future openings.
