Residents are reminded to take simple steps to help avoid becoming a crime victim. Remember not to leave valuables in plain sight in your vehicle; these include purses, wallets, phones and keys or fobs. A number of vehicles over the last year have been stolen from Long Grove residential driveways, when vehicles were either left unlocked, and/or keys or fobs were left inside in plain sight. Also, if you are unable to be at home when packages are delivered, opt to pick them up instead, ask a neighbor to retrieve them, or have them delivered to CVS in Long Grove, which accepts deliveries year- round. These simple steps can help protect you and your valuables, and reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime.

Village Increases Fines for
Passing School Buses
|
The Village Board unanimously approved an ordinance that increases fines for motorists who illegally pass stopped school buses in Long Grove. New state laws went into effect January 1, 2020, which called for a $150 fine for the first offense and a $500 fine for a second offense. The Village Board voted to increase first offense fines to $300, and to $1,000 for all subsequent violations.
In addition to these increases, stepped up law enforcement efforts by the Lake County Sheriff are also being considered. Electronic message boards are planned on Checker Road in an area where residents have reported seeing many motorists illegally passing school buses. For more information, click here.
