May 2019 President's Message

Happy Easter! I hope everyone was able to get outside and search for their eggs. I was in Spokane with the family over Easter and watching my nieces and nephews run around looking for eggs was fun. The older nephews hid eggs in interesting places throughout the yard. I have notice how beautiful the dogwood trees are in full bloom. I wish their flowers would be on the trees throughout the summer.

We had a great meeting this past month with Kim Kopp speaking on Multiple Myeloma. She was a very engaging and informative speaker. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society have multiple education topics and are interested in presenting in the future. Let us know if you are interested in other topics.

The Spring Conference is just around the corner on Thursday May 9th at the Hotel RL in Olympia. Registration will be closing soon, and I don't want you to miss out.  This is a great opportunity to network with your colleagues and gain information on new and emerging case management trends. Jose Alejandro the current CMSA president will be speaking on the future of case management. Jose is an engaging speaker and has a wealth of information to share. Our own Laura Opson will be speaking on legal aspects of case management and you will earn an Ethics CE for her talk. Our other speakers from Touch Bionics and Osiris will present trends in stem cell research and prosthetic and amputee developments.

We will be off June and July and return with a mini-conference at Warm Beach Conference Center in Stanwood in August. Stay tuned for the speakers and topics.

I'm hoping that you are taking advantage of the new CE offerings by CMSA. Their monthly webinar series has been very interesting, and the topics are timely.

We continue to plan events for 2019 and into 2020. If you have ideas let me know or anyone on the board. You can email us at  [email protected]

In the next president's message, I will have updates and highlights from the National CMSA conference in Las Vegas. I am looking forward to seeing my colleagues from across the country and attending the conference which I always find rewarding.

Thanks for taking the time to read the newsletter and hope to see you at the Spring Conference.

Sincerely,
Kathy Parry, BSN, RN, CCM
WMCMA Board President 2018-2019

WMCMA sends all WMCMA program evaluations and CEs online via email. Attendees should receive an email with the link to the program evaluation and CE instructions within a few days of the CE presentation.  Attendees have one week to complete the evaluation.  Once that one week deadline has passed, attendees who requested a CE will receive the CCM certificate via email.  If you attended our programs and did not receive the evaluation email within a few days, contact us at [email protected] or (425) 329-9456.

Please note that while MOST of our educational programs have CEs attached to them, some don't due to restrictions by the speaker/sponsor. This will be noted in the event information.
