Serra Gift to Improve Fitness Experience at Albion
Joe Serra, ’82, and his wife, Julie, recently presented a $5 million gift to the College to create a new fitness and activity space for all students on campus. The gift will focus on a major expansion at the Dow Recreation and Wellness Center, adding 10,000 square feet. It will also provide the opportunity to make substantive renovations and, possibly, help build a new competitive site for athletic teams currently competing in the Kresge Gymnasium. Learn more »
Two Alums Will Address the Class of 2019 at Commencement
The Class of 2019 Commencement scheduled for May 4 will have two engaged alumni speaking to the graduates. Merck and Co, Inc. official Barbara Weiskittel, ’83, and retired Briton football coach Craig Rundle, ’74, are the featured speakers for the event on the Quadrangle. Learn more »

Leroy Wright Named New VP for Student Development and Dean of Students
The Detroit native and current associate vice chancellor for student affairs at Appalachian State University will join Albion College on July 1 as vice president for student development and dean of students. “He has a wonderful rapport with students and a dedication to their well-being that will ensure them the college experience they expect and deserve,” said Albion College President Mauri Ditzler. Issac Symposium Celebrates 30 Years April 17-18
Author Jennine Capó Crucet will deliver the Keynote Address for the 2019 Elkin R. Isaac Student Research Symposium later this month. Natalie Dubois, ’97, will give the Isaac Alumni Lecture and more than 100 students will present research papers during the event. Read more »
Computer Science Major Returns to Albion College
Professors David Reimann and Buket Aydas lead the charge to resume the major through meetings with the College’s Curriculum Resource Committee and others. After nearly a decade, the major will be offered again this fall. Learn more »
Gerstacker Foundation Grant Enhances Community-Based Learning
Midland, Michigan’s Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation has given a two-year $500,000 grant for the College’s civic engagement initiative, which will support the community and augment student learning. The funds will be awarded in December and will focus on connecting students to the community, supporting community-based learning, and building and maintaining strategic partnerships with community organizations. The senior not only plays on the No. 1 court for the Briton men’s tennis team, he is also busy with a major in music performance with a pre-med concentration, and minors in chemistry and kinesiology. Learn more »

Mark Stuart, ’89, now leads the San Diego Foundation. The former chief development officer of San Diego Zoo Global and president of its foundation was recently named president and CEO of the San Diego Foundation – competing against more than 1,000 candidates. Read more »
