The Ampersand Pantry Project South is offering free lunches to Hopewell residents suffering from food insecurity on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 11:30 am. This is a contactless drive-through service located outside the Williams Building at the corner of Main Street and West Broadway.
The program is sponsored by local attorney Jim Williams of Burnett & Williams. It kicked-off in Hopewell on May 21st with Subway sandwiches provided by Chaitan Patel, and canned goods from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

Update from Perdue Foods:
Perdue recently extended the temporary $1-per-hour COVID-19 pay increase for frontline associates through July 5, 2020. On June 15, they resumed their normal attendance policy for all hourly production associates. Associates who have symptoms of the virus or who test positive are asked to stay home and will not incur an unexcused absence. Players will start at the Hopewell Visitor's Center, being sent off in staggered timing. They will go to the restaurants of their choice that are included in the route. Players will then circle back to the Visitor's Center for judging and prizes.

We want to reassure you, your clients and our community
of the numerous additional protocols that we have implemented to ensure their safety.

Here are just a few of the steps we’re taking to keep our patients, visitors and our clinical teams safe:
- Screening processes are in place for all patients, visitors and clinicians before entering facilities.
- Updated visitor policies, including limitations, which have been in place for the duration of the pandemic, remain in place across our facility. One screened and masked visitor is welcome to accompany a patient in care facilities.
- Universal masking is required throughout all our facility, which exceeds CDC guidelines. We continue to have adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) for patients, visitors, clinicians and caregivers.
- Heightened infection prevention policies instituted, including the removal of high-touch items such as magazines, toys and vending machines from our facilities.
- Our teams are working to advance technology-enabled solutions that minimize patients’ time in facility waiting areas.
- Each care facility has a separate location for COVID-19 positive patients and those who are under investigation. These patients are masked and escorted to designated locations.
