Around the Square                                        May  2019

Kennett Square welcomes the marvelous month of May by kicking off a new season of the community's favorite events. There's something for everyone in the Borough this month-starting with the opening of the 20th anniversary season of the Kennett Square Farmers Market from 3-7 p.m. this Friday. Find all the ingredients for your own farm-to-table meals and make a new season resolution to buy local, eat healthy, and enjoy getting to know your local farmers and producers! Historic Kennett Square's First Friday Flea Market also begins a new season on Friday, from 5-8:30 p.m. on State Street across from the Farmers Market. Shop vintage, reclaimed, and handmade artisan goods from new and returning vendors.  Square Pear Gallery's new show "The Subtlety of Spring" opens this Friday as well.

On Saturday, bring the family to Anson B. Nixon Park for the 24th annual Trout Rodeo. On Sunday, Casa Guanajuato Kennett Square hosts the colorful, family-friendly Cinco de Mayo Festival celebrating Hispanic art, music, dance, and food.

Historic Kennett Square's Third Thursday on State Street returns for a new season on Thursday, May 16th. The street will be closed for an extra hour, until 10 p.m., so more people can enjoy this popular event. Make your reservations at your favorite restaurant now to enjoy outdoor dining, extended shopping hours, strolling entertainers and children's activities , as well as live music from Josh Komorowski and the Sons of Thunder.

The Kennett Run celebrates "30 years and running" with a variety of race events on Saturday, May 11th, and the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27th is another Kennett Square tradition not to be missed. This colorful, vibrant procession includes something for everyone.
