August 2021
Whatever actions thou dost perform, O Son of Kunti (Arjuna), whether in eating, or in observing spiritual rites, or in gift bestowing, or self-disciplining--dedicate them all as offerings to Me.

Thus no action of thine can enchain thee with good or evil karma. With thy Self steadfastly anchored in Me by Yoga and renunciation, thou shalt win freedom and come unto Me.

I am impartial toward all beings. To Me none is hateful, none is dear. But those who give Me their heart's love are anchored in Me, as I am in them.

Even a consummate evil doer who turns away from all else to worship Me exclusively may be counted among the good, because of his righteous resolve.

He will fast become a virtuous man and obtain unending peace. Tell all assuredly, O Arjuna, that My devotee never perishes!

Greetings!

As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, the DC Center’s Managing Council met in July and came up with a plan to reopen the DC Center. We are happy to announce that our reopening plan was approved by SRF, and we will reopen for Sunday Services in September. The reopening plan is based on CDC and local government guideline, which could change. We are in the process of organizing the volunteers, so we will send out a separate blast email with all the details soon. Please stay tuned.

If you plan to attend the SRF virtual Convocation this year, you will need to register for the event. Please see below for more information.

While the DC Center has been closed, many of you have been attending the SRF online inspirational services. Most of the services are recorded and be found at this link.

I would also like to thank everyone for their donations to our Center and Building Fund. So far this year, except for the month of March, we have had a positive cash flow each month, and our Building Fund reached $101,213.

There is a special blessing one receives when you support Paramahansa Yogananda’s work and the Washington DC Center during this challenging time. The Council wants you to know that we are grateful for your continuing donations that have been helpful for the DC Center to cover its ongoing fixed costs. Please see below for more information about how to donate to our Center or SRF directly.

SRF 2021 Online Convocation

This year's Convocation will once again be completely online and free of charge. The weeklong program will take place August 8 -14, and will include classes on Paramahansa Yogananda’s “how-to-live” teachings and meditation techniques, online guided group meditations and kirtans, virtual pilgrimage tours to the ashrams where the great Guru lived and communed with God, and more.
Staying Connected

We encourage all to stay remotely connected to the worldwide SRF family:

Suggestion Box

Due to the fact we no longer are physically present at the DC Center we thought we would add a feature called the “Suggestion Box” in which we invite your suggestions or comments. Much like the suggestion box at the DC Center, if you have a constructive idea or suggestion for our Center please send it by replying to this email. We can then review them monthly at our Council meetings. Someone will reply to each suggestion after each monthly Council meeting.
Caring Friends Team

The Caring Friends Team provides support and outreach to members who are experiencing illness, hardships, and personal crisis. For more information please contact Stacey Hawkins at 301-395-9541, callingcardevents@comcast.net.
