Dear San Marino community,
On behalf of the Board of Education, I am extremely pleased to announce that the Board has selected Dr. Jeff Wilson as the lone finalist to serve as superintendent of San Marino Unified School District. After a thorough search process, which included listening to the needs and interests of various stakeholder groups, the Board has identified an excellent educator and administrator to lead the San Marino Unified School District for years to come. As the press release below explains, Dr. Wilson comes with 25 years of experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and most recently Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in Arcadia Unified School District. He brings many positive attributes, such as "a relational leader," "natural communicator," "highly visible" and "easily accessible to all staff."
It is typical in TK-12 public education for the Board to conduct due diligence after the announcement of the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Assuming a successful background check and contract negotiations, as well as confirmation of Dr. Wilson's glowing references through
a site visit, the Board will vote to approve Dr. Wilson at its next regularly scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.
The Board is thankful to Loren Kleinrock and his beyond-the-call-of-duty service to the SMUSD as Interim Superintendent. We are excited to begin working with Dr. Wilson to best serve the educational needs of San Marino students. The Board appreciates the input and involvement of the community during this important process and looks forward to keeping the community informed as to ways that stakeholders can meet and engage with Dr. Wilson in the months to come.
