Primary Elections Postponed to July 7th
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy issued an Executive Order   on April 8, 2020, postponing the state's primary elections from June 2nd to July 7th and changing other important voting deadlines.

In the Executive Order, Governor Murphy stated " postponing the June primary elections will give New Jersey election officials enough time to take the necessary steps to address the negative impacts of the present health crisis on the upcoming primary elections, allowing voters to exercise their constitutional franchise without jeopardizing their health
and safety, and increase the likelihood that the elections will include in-person voting. "


Important Dates to Remember
  • May 13th is the last day to file party affiliations
  • The new voter registration deadline is June 16th
  • Voters have until June 30th to apply to receive a vote-by-mail ballot
  • Primary Election Day has been postponed to July 7th
