New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy
issued an
Executive Order
on April 8, 2020, postponing the state's primary elections from June 2nd to July 7th and changing other important voting deadlines.
In the Executive Order, Governor Murphy stated "
postponing the June primary elections will give New Jersey election officials enough time to take the necessary steps to address the negative impacts of the present health crisis on the upcoming primary elections, allowing voters to exercise their constitutional franchise without jeopardizing their health
and safety, and increase the likelihood that the elections will include in-person voting.
