50 Best Government Fleets
Six of the top 50 BEST GOVERNMENT FLEETS IN THE US are here in Northern California, and four of them are in the Sacramento Region! The American Public Works Association (APWA), in conjunction with Government Fleet News, have selected fleets that are performing at a high level in efficiency and sustainability, planning for the future, and overcoming challenges.

Tesla 400 Mile Range
Tesla has taken lessons learned about increased brake regen and lighter weight materials from the Model 3 and the Model Y to break the 400 mile range barrier on the 2020 Model S, now having an EPA certified 402 mile range.

Mitsui has invested $25M in First Element, the hydrogen fuel station company operating half of the hydrogen stations in California, supporting the 8,200 fuel cell cars currently operating in California.

The U.S. Department of Energy will award grants of $500,000 to $3M for battery technology development related to electrodes, materials, scale-up and production.

Volvo Lights All Electric Truck
The “Volvo LIGHTS” heavy-duty electric truck development program funded by the South Coast Air District and 13 partners has placed the first Volvo VNR 2-axle box truck with TEC Equipment, a truck dealership in Fontana. TEC will use the truck for parts distribution. Two additional EV VNRs will begin operating this summer at NFI Industries and Dependable Supply Chain Services.

Tesla Factory in Texas
Tesla has reportedly selected Austin Texas as the site of their “Terafactory” where they will build the Cybertruck and the Model Y. Tesla is planning to move so quickly that they will be producing both vehicles at a plant that doesn’t exist today by Q4 of 2021.

Ford Mustang Will Be First To Get Hands Free Driving Technology
Ford has announced that their Co-Pilot 360 driver assist system will be upgraded to a “Hands Free” package on their all new Mustang Mach-E SUV beginning in 2021, with the “Hands Free” upgrade to available shortly thereafter on multiple Ford models.

I-5 Electric Truck Charging Sites Mapped
The West Coast Clean Transit Corridor Initiative has released a study that recommends adding electric vehicle charging for freight haulers and delivery trucks at 50-mile intervals along Interstate 5 from San Diego to Seattle.

EVSE Standards Webinar
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is holding a workshop where their plan to require all Electric Vehicle Service Providers to report all existing, all new, and all decommissioned EVSE locations and access information to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Alternative Fuels Data Center and CARB. The information reported will include pricing, EVSE model and location.

Santa Monica To Pilot Zero Emissions Delivery Zones
The City of Santa Monica is hoping to institute a “Zero-emission Delivery Zone.” The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) has issued an RFI for companies capable of supplying the technology necessary. Responses to the RFI are due by June 29.

Refineries Report
For the week ending 6/12/20, refineries in California produced 273,714 gallons of gasoline and 74,802 gallons of diesel. This represents INCREASE in gasoline production of 11%, and a 17% DECREASE in diesel production from last week.
