A Message From the Library Director

The Edgartown Library's online services remain open, and library staff are available and always looking for new and creative ways to serve our community through this unprecedented time, as you'll see below.
The library remains here for you, and we welcome your comments, questions, and ideas. Staff are available to assist our patrons, and may be reached by calling our main line at 508-627-4221 (this number is monitored, and we will return your call as soon as possible) or by emailing us at info@edgartownlibrary.org.

In our continuing efforts to provide our patrons with access to quality library services, the Edgartown Library has created the option to receive a temporary library card. This card will grant you access to all the above resources, including Libby, Kanopy, Hoopla, and the New York Times online.

Cards will be valid until June 30, 2020. ID is not required at this time, but upon re-opening, we will request ID in order to convert your temporary card into a permanent card. If you need any assistance, please email us at info@edgartownlibrary.org.

Follow his alter ego, Trash Panda, as he spruces up leftovers, digs all the way to the back of his fridge and cabinets, and talks at length about how much he loves eating. Explore techniques for using what you have on hand to create tasty and fulfilling dishes at home.

This month we've collected poems from some of our very best Island poets to share with you:

|
Fan Ogilvie is a poet, teacher of poetry and organizer of poetry workshops. In 1984 she received a Chester Jones Foundation commendation award. She is included in two chapbooks,
The Other Side of the Hill
and
In a Certain Place
. Her poems are published in The Poet and The Poem Anthology, Poet Lore, Three Sisters, Z’Arts, Fulcrum, An Annual of Poetry and Aesthetics, The Martha’s Vineyard Journal of Writing, online on Fieralingue, the Poet’s Corner and others. She helped to organize the Martha’s Vineyard Writers Program, and taught poetry at the Featherstone Center for the Arts on Martha’s Vineyard from 1996 until 2007.

Arnie Reisman is an award-winning writer, producer and performer, who is featured in commercial and public television, radio, corporate video, private and public media publications, theatre and film. In 2014 he was selected as the Poet Laureate of Martha's Vineyard. He has since unified and promoted the Island's poetry scene to great success.
|
|
|
Jill Jupen, Martha's Vineyard Poet Laureate (2019-2021), has been published in several literary journals including Green Mountain Review, Hunger Mountain, Dakota Territory, and Rattle. Nominated for a Pushcart Prize, in 2018 she won the Plan B Press poetry chapbook contest. This award led to the publication of “The Space Between." She founded and leads the Martha’s Vineyard Poets Collective.

Rose Styron is a poet, journalist, editor, and human rights activist. She has authored four poetry collections,

Donald Nitchie’s poetry collection

was published in 2007. He leads Poetry Drop-in Sessions at local libraries, and will be offering a writing workshop online in May for the Edgartown Library.
