On October 22nd, Mental Health Advocacy Services celebrated our 40th Anniversary Celebration at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, where we proudly honored the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Bruce Saltzer, Executive Director of The Association of Community Human Service Agencies (ACHSA).
MHAS' friends and supporters joined us to reflect on 40 years of achievement in our ongoing mission to protect and advance the rights of people with mental disabilities. Thank you to our honorees, guests, supporters, and volunteers for making our 40th Anniversary Celebration a great success!
The funds raised allow MHAS to continue providing free legal services to low-income families throughout Los Angeles County.

Audra is a single mother and veteran who has mental and physical disabilities.
The outcome of this case surprised everyone.
After Audra got injured at her former job, she could no longer work and lapsed into periods of homelessness. During this difficult period, Audra accumulated minor traffic tickets that she was unable to pay off. After regaining permanent housing, Audra sought the help of MHAS to assist in resolving her traffic tickets. MHAS enlisted the pro bono help of Attorney Jonathan Weisberg who represented Audra in court. Jonathan succeeded in getting Audra's tickets dismissed but could not have predicted the surprise that came with the judge's decision.

We need your help.
Your support makes it possible for us to provide legal assistance that transforms veterans' lives. On this Veteran's Day, please make a tax-deductible donation. Together, we can help more veterans like Audra successfully reintegrate into the community.
