Sunday Services
9:15 & 11:00AM

VERY SPECIAL CHOIR SUNDAY, MAY 5:
9:15 and 11:00
MISA A BUENOS AIRES

For both services on May 5th, the Community Church Choir will be joined by Alejandro Pinzon on Bandoneon, along with church pianist Ariadna Nacianceno, bassist Marc Alperin and a string quartet to bring to life Misa a Buenos Aires by  Martin Palmieri (also know as Misatango, or Tango Mass). The choir has been hard at work mastering the seductive rhythms, dramatic transitions, thrilling dynamics and delicious harmonies of this deeply affecting work. And instead of the usual single mezzo soprano soloist, the part will be split among seven women of the choir. Using the standard Latin text, composer Palmeri brings the spirit of the Argentinian Tango to the Mass form, reinventing classical devices like fugue, counterpoint and text painting in completely original ways. It is not to be missed.

"Life is like Tango... sad, sensual, sexy, violent and quiet." - Anonymous
