Board Updates:
Continuous Learning Plan: Vicki Schweinler Executive Director of Elementary Education and Wade Redeker Executive Director of Secondary Education reviewed the district's Continuous Learning Plan outlining how the district will educate students for the remainder of the year.  The primary learning platforms will include the use of Google Classroom and student Gmail accounts as the key method for sharing class content and communicating with students and their families. Students who are unable to access the internet will be provided learning packets.  Schweinler and Redeker each thanked everyone involved in developing the Continuous Learning Plan and putting it into motion. So many educators played crucial roles in creating opportunities for students to continue learning and complete their academic year.  Click here to view the complete Continuous Learning Plan

Building For The Future:  Board members Doug Epp and Mike Crouch reported updates from the recent Building For The Future construction meeting. The majority of the meeting was spent looking at the schematic design and budget for Walnut Elementary.  Both Epp and Crouch reported being pleased with the team approach and everyone's willingness to work through the project in spite of challenges being faced by COVID-19. They were also encouraged that HTK architects have been able to begin doing prework on some of the other district projects.  This will allow additional time to review the scope of each construction project and move forward in a timely manner.

Calendar Modifications: The district is continuing to navigate opportunities to finalize our academic calendar as a result of COVID-19 and discuss calendar adjustments for the end of the year.  Currently, the following changes have been determined:
  • Friday, April 10 will now be an online teaching day instead of a PLT day for staff
  • The last day of school for seniors will be May 12
Future Board Dates:
  • Wednesday, April 22, 2020, 7:00 p.m., Board Meeting, Mary Herbert Education Center
