Community Serve Day is returning for 2021 and WE NEED YOU!
We are incredibly fortunate that Community Serve Day is returning to Rockwell this year. If you are not familiar with it, Community Serve Day is a movement of local churches, school districts, PTSA’s, non-profits, and businesses that mobilize as one for our community. For one day we come together to help schools get ready for the new school year, preparing classrooms and school grounds to become a premier learning environment for our kids. Community Serve Day is August 22, from 9am-1pm.
I have participated in the program for 5 years, leading a site for four years. I can honestly say it is one of the most rewarding volunteer experiences in which I participate. When you see the gratitude on the teacher’s faces, you will know your time and effort are incredibly appreciated. This will be the fourth time we’ve brought the project to Norman Rockwell, with a brief hiatus last year due to Covid. I’m very excited about serving our teachers and staff here locally. I wanted to extend an invitation to each of you to join us. It’s a fantastic opportunity to pour some love into the school and the teachers and staff as they prep for the new school year. Kids are more than welcome to serve with you (my kids started serving at 3 and 5)!
And now, while I will stop short of begging, we really need our community to step up and volunteer. Understandably, volunteer numbers are down this year. All projects will be done outdoors, so please join us if you can.
