LET'S TALK ABOUT MEASUREMENT!
Let’s talk, read, and sing about MEASUREMENT! Did you know that your child begins developing early math skills starting at birth—simply through the daily routines and activities you share together? Understanding measurement concepts—such as size, length, weight, height, and capacity—is one of these skills.

Talking is Teaching has tips and resources to help parents talk to their children, even those who are very young.

ACTIVITES
LET'S TALK TOGETHER
LEARN ABOUT MEASUREMENT WITH WATER PLAY
by PBS Kids for Parents

Invite your child to explore liquid measurements using water and a few different-sized containers. Encourage them to measure different amounts of water using cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. With each measurement, use the different types of measuring cups to fill the gallon container. How many cups does it take to fill a gallon? How many pints? How many quarts?

LET'S READ TOGETHER

Let's Talk About MEASUREMENT! Reading books and watching videos with your child is a great way to get the conversation started. Check out the book/ video recommendations from Talking Is Teaching or visit the Iosco-Arenac District Library or Bay County Library System to talk to a librarian.
