Visit Washington County Middle Housing Online Open House
Help increase potential development of more housing options by completing a survey and sharing your ideas in Washington County’s Middle Housing Online Open House through Aug. 13.

Community Planning staff is considering changes to the Washington County Community Development Code to allow more middle housing – duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes and cottage clusters – in neighborhoods where single-detached homes are allowed, and to make the approval process less complicated. Under House Bill 2001 many local governments throughout Oregon are required to do this to create more housing choices that suit a variety of households.

Please visit the online open house to see how middle housing meets your needs, or the needs of your friends, family members, neighbors and community. Learn about the benefits of middle housing and then take our brief survey – it takes less than 10 minutes – to share your ideas. Your input will help guide the Project Team on its recommendations to the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

  • Comment on the Gales Creek Road (OR-8) and Thatcher Road Intersection Project via an online open house through July 18. The intersection will be realigned to address sight distance and install a crosswalk across Gales Creek Road with a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB). Comment here
  • Learn about the Meadow Drive and Downing Street/Butner Road Pedestrian Improvement Projects through the online open house, open through July 25. Both projects include constructing new sidewalks to fill in gaps along the roads. Comment here

ADA ramp replacements
ADA ramp replacements have minimal impact on motor vehicle traffic; pedestrian paths will be maintained. Lane closures will be intermittent during weekday hours only. Ramps are in construction on portions of the following roads:

  • 185th Avenue and Rock Creek Boulevard-Park View Boulevard intersection
  • Adair and Baseline streets (OR-8) - (ODOT)
  • Cornell Road between Elam Young Parkway West and Butler Road
  • Davis Road between 160th and 165th avenues
  • Kinnaman Road between 180th and 185th avenues
Summer road maintenance activities
It's time for summer road maintenance activities, including gravel road stabilization and paving. A list of impacted roads and schedules is available online, and will be updated as work is scheduled.
