SHELTER LIFE DURING COVID-19
When the shelter closed to the public on March 19th, we had 27 cats and 25 dogs in our care. We have continued doing adoptions by appointment only and following safe social distancing protocols. We are thrilled that 27 adoptions have taken place at our facility since that date. With the help of our rescue partners at Pawportunities in Blue Springs, Missouri and Five Acres Animal Shelter in St. Charles, Missouri, we were able to transfer out 14 dogs -- all of whom have now found their forever homes.

Our staff continues to come to work daily to take care of the animals that are still here, along with conducting everyday business. By reducing the number of animals housed in our building, we have ensured that staff members who need to remain at home because of immune-compromised family members or children being out of school are able to do so. We care deeply about the health and safety of our staff and volunteers as well as our animals and have worked hard to make sure that EVERYONE, whether they have two legs or four, is well taken care of during this difficult time.
If you wish to help support OKK9 at this time in a "social distancing" approved manner, monetary contributions can be made using the DONATE button on our Facebook page.
Our animals thank you!
NEW MANAGER FOR THE THRIFT STORE
Ozarks Kat and K9 is happy to announce that Penny Braker, whom you may know as the thrift store's Basement Merchandiser, has been promoted to Store Manager. She is anxious to get the store reopened and to get feedback about all the recent changes from everyone. Be sure to come say hello to her when we are back in business!
CONGRATULATIONS, PENNY!

NEW ONLINE ADOPTION FORM
OKK9 listened to your ideas! We have created a brand new online adoption application to make it easier for potential adopters to apply for a new family member! Click the "Adopt, Don't Shop" photo to fill out and submit the form directly from your phone or computer.
MURPHY'S CLINIC NEWS

After some Covid-19 related delays, Dr. Melanie McHenry will be returning to Murphy's on May 4th ready to hire clinic staff and get equipment set up. We are hoping that Murphy's will be back in operation in June. In the meantime, low cost spays and neuters will continue through our arrangement with Lake Dog and Cat Veterinary Hospital in Laurie, MO. Dr. Mark Lucas and his team has been generously helping us and the lake community with these procedures since January while Murphy's has been between veterinarians. We are extremely grateful for all they have done for our animals. If you need a spay/neuter appointment, please leave a message at 573-552-7743 and we will return your call as soon as possible.
THRIFT STORE NEWS

Even though our thrift store has been closed to the public since March 19th due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our staff and volunteers have been working diligently to give the store a fresh facelift. Many cosmetic changes have taken place--cleaning, painting, caulking, repairs and organization. A much-needed new commercial front door is on order and will be installed in the coming weeks. Spring and summer merchandise is out on the racks and shelves waiting for buyers. We can't wait for you to see the changes when we reopen!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Our thrift store is dependent on the countless hours contributed by our dedicated volunteers. Thrift store volunteers work with customers, sort and price donated items, stock the sales floor and anything else required to keep the retail side of our organization running smoothly.
If you have some extra time on your hands and would love to spend some of it helping raise money for our animals, we would love to have you! Set your own schedule--work as few or as many hours as you wish. We're flexible! Come in and talk to us about volunteering.
*COMMUNITY BARKS
AND MEOWS*
A huge shout out to all of the generous lake area community members who have reached out and donated to us during these uncertain times. Whether it be monetary contributions, dog and cat food, or handing over a winning lottery ticket, OKK9 appreciates each and every one of you! It takes a village to save animals and our village is the absolute best!
OUR ANIMALS THANK YOU!
