January
The Food Pantry
Continues to be thankful for the generous donations from the St. Paul's Day School community that have provided an outpouring of food items for the month of December and continuing into the New Year.
The pantry can always use toiletries and other personal care items, travel size or otherwise, as well as your (separated and flattened) paper grocery sacks.
Best Wishes to All from the Pantry Volunteers for a Happy New Year !

Rector's notes:
2018 . . . another gift of God to us. What will we do with this precious gift? How will we live the faith that is in us in such a way that we make God incarnate in our world? Indeed, how will we be the Body of Christ as the days of 2018 unfold for us? I look
forward to the pilgrimage of faith before us in this new year. It will begin liturgically this coming Sunday, January 7 with baptisms at the 10:30 service. I can think of no better way for our parish family to mark in worship the beginning of a new year. I look forward to seeing you at the Epiphany Stewardship celebration on Saturday, January 6 at 6:30 and at the liturgies of the parish on Sunday, January 7.

Episcopal Church Young Adult Service Corps:
Applications accepted for 2018-2019 placements
Young adults (21-30 years old) have an opportunity to transform their own lives while engaging mission and ministry in the Anglican Communion by joining the Young Adult Service Corps. Now, applications are available for 2018-2019 placements in the Young Adult Service Corps, commonly known as
YASC.
Currently YASCers are serving throughout the Anglican Communion, working alongside partners in administration, agriculture, communication, development, and education. They are serving in Brazil, Costa Rica, England, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Africa and Tanzania.
Among possible placements for 2018-2019 include (but not limited to) Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, England, Honduras, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Jerusalem, Mexico, Panama, the Philippines, South Africa, Taiwan, and Tanzania.
"The Young Adult Service Corps offers young adults the opportunity to live out their faith in new ways and different contexts," commented Elizabeth Boe, Episcopal Church Mission Personnel Officer. "They commit to spending a year learning from and working, living, and praying with other Episcopal and Anglican communities around the world."
The application for a 2018-2019 placement with additional information and instructions is available here. The application deadline is Friday, January 12, 2018.
The Rev. David Copley, Director of Global Partnerships and Mission Personnel, noted, "YASC builds on the foundation of faith, knowledge, education, and experience that young adults bring with them when they serve and offers opportunities to be challenged and transformed by being fully present in another part of God's world. Missionary service is first and foremost an act of faith and a way of being Church."
For more information contact Boe .

St. Paul's
Sunday Mail Ministry
In these tumultuous times, more people than ever before are reaching out to their members of Congress and other elected officials. Indeed, this is part of our calling as followers of Jesus in the world--to engage with the powers that be to make for a better world for all God's creation. Each Sunday, the members of Acts and Action will have a table set aside during Coffee Hour where you can write a postcard to your selected elected official, and write whatever you wish to convey: I agree, I disagree, I'm praying for you, etc. Acts and Action will then deliver them by hand to the local offices of KCMO reps on the final Friday of each month. (If you are sending to someone on the KS side of the state line, talk to Mtr Megan and she will arrange for stamps!)

High School Debate Opportunity at Sewanee
SUMMA Student Theological Debate Society is accepting applications for the 2018 session of SUMMA Debate Camp.
July 17-25 at the
University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. SUMMA Camp is a unique opportunity for students to explore their faith through intellectual channels, meet lifelong friends, and have a lot of fun on one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country!
At SUMMA Camp, students of all faiths learn valuable skills for debate, public speaking, and theological reflection.
No previous debate experience or formal theological study is necessary. Campers have a
true collegiate experience, but camp is not all work! There is plenty of time left over to swim, play sports, watch movies, go bowling, and have lots of great, summer fun!

!!!!!!!!!We are in need of Coffee Hour Hosts!!!!!!
Please Let Carrie or Allison know
We hope you will consider teaming up with another family or a friend to maintain our fellowship and gathering following the 10:30 a.m. service that has brought our parishioners together for years.
Hosting Coffee Hour is a fun and easy way to get to know other St. Paul's members! The host brings the food and the church provides the drinks. An example of what a host might bring would be: two large pans of brownies (cut very small), maybe a bowl of fruit (oftentimes grapes cut into small clusters), and a bowl or two of pretzels or popcorn. If you have questions or wish to co-host with another member, please contact
Carrie or
Alison. Dates are available:
