Your Girl Scouts Weekly News & Updates
If you're itching for some outdoor adventures this time of year (and it's not just that you have spring allergies like me!), then this issue of Grow From Home is definitely for you. Adventure awaits, in Yellowstone National Park or your own back yard.

The Official Handbook of the Girl Scouts said it well (in 1920!): "..the real fun of [girl] scouting lies in the great life of out-of-doors, and the call of the woods is answered quicker by the [Girl] Scout than by anybody, because the [Girl} Scout learns just how to get the most out of all this wild, free life and how to enjoy it with the least trouble and the most fun."

A hundred years later, those words still ring true.

Enjoy.

Sewing-The STEM That Saves Lives
Idaho STEM Action Center’s COVID-19 response, #IdahoMakersUnite, has a call to action for people across Idaho with basic to advanced skills in sewing to help supply healthcare workers, elderly citizens, immunocompromised individuals, first responders, and others in their communities with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The greatest need is for cut-and-sew masks made of basic fabric or with filter materials and elastic. Whether by hand or with modern digital machine, it’s the science, technology, engineering, and math Idaho communities need today.
Visit us here to:
  • Connect your skills to an organization in need of masks
  • Find mask patterns and instructions
  • Inquire about elastic supplies
  • Apply for funding for supplies and shipping support for completed masks
Spread the word
Please share this information with anyone who may have skills or supplies to share. Connecting makers to those in need and supporting their efforts is what makes our place in Idaho so STEM-azing. Questions? Contact Erica with the ID STEM Action Center at Erica.Compton@STEM.idaho.gov.

Volunteer Resources and Updates
For Volunteers
We've said it once, and we'll say it a thousand times more: we wouldn't be anywhere without our passionate, caring volunteers! People like you who give their all- whatever that looks like for you- even through challenging times like now. Because when you take the lead as a volunteer, girls learn to take the lead and change the world.

For National Volunteer Month, we want to shout from the rooftops how much we appreciate all you do for Girl Scouts and the huge impact you have on the next generation of female leaders. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything!

"Keep Girl Scouts Going" Troop/Caregiver Support Guide NOW AVAILABLE!
During this time when troops are not able to meet, families are looking for ways to carry on Girl Scouts from their home. But, some Troop Leaders may not be able to extend all the support that families need. The “Keep Girl Scouts Going” guide is a perfect support resource! It will take the pressure from troop leaders who are struggling with their own balance between work, family, and Girl Scouts by guiding parents and caregivers to resources that will help them facilitate their girls’ Girl Scout experiences at home.

The guide is available HERE .
