RCIA Journey
Rite of Scrutiny at Sunday 5:30pm Mass
At the 5:30pm Mass on Sunday, July 12
, our RCIA Elect will participate in the Rite of Scrutiny as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation. Fr. Timothy Kesicki, SJ will celebrate the Mass. During this Scrutiny, the Gospel of John 4:5-42 is proclaimed in which Jesus provides living water to the woman of Samaria. Together with our Elect, we look within ourselves for the living water of Christ. We pray for the Elect who will soon experience the living waters of baptism as they are fully received into the Church.
Sacraments of Initiation to be Celebrated
With great joy we announce the dates to celebrate
our RCIA Elect and Candidates’ Sacraments of Initiation, and our Catholic Candidates’ Sacrament of Confirmation.
On Monday,
July 13
, one of our Elect in the Spanish RCIA will receive the Sacraments of Initiation at a 9:30am Mass celebrated by Fr. Benson.
On Saturday,
August 22
, the Memorial of the Queenship of Mary, Msgr. Jameson will celebrate the Mass for our 21 RCIA Elect and Candidates and their sponsors and families. Please keep them in your prayers as their preparations continue.

Peacemaking
Msgr. Jameson in his 10am Mass homily last Sunday spoke about a vital subject - maintaining our inner peace, and being peacemakers.
We must be willing to banish the "weapons of mass destruction that we control," including s
harp words, addictions, runaway emotions, and unforgiveness. These can be
weapons that destroy inner peace, relationships, and even lives. "It is not power and might, but meekness that triumphs in the upside-down kingdom."
Read the homily - his last Sunday homily before leaving for vacation - or
watch the video of the Mass that was livestreamed from the Cathedral.

Performances scheduled for the early 2020 portion of our Inaugural Concert Series celebrating the completion of the Cathedral Great Organ were among the many events cancelled due to the pandemic. Click on the photo for a video of renowned young organist
Nathan Laube playing
Wagner's Overture to Tannhäuser on
our organ. The recording was made during rehearsal for the September 20, 2019 Dedicatory Recital, given on the Vigil of the Feast of St. Matthew, that
kicked off the series.
Plans for an organ recital series
to begin in September 2020
with up to 12 recitalists soon will be announced according to
