Statue of Liberty Museum Features Granite from Stony Creek Quarry
The Statue of Liberty Museum on Liberty Island opened to the public May 16th following a dedication ceremony presented by the National Park Service and the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc.

With six tons of Stony Creek granite in the pedestal of Lady Liberty, the granite also has been used extensively throughout the new museum. When visiting the museum, if you walk on it or sit on it, it is most likely Stony Creek granite. If you would like to learn more about the quarry, there is an upcoming tour or you can hike The Branford Trail: Quarry - Westwoods. You can download trail information here.
