WELCOME TO RUTIZ FARMS
SPECIAL GUEST COMING TO OUR FARM THIS FRIDAY
This
Friday, May 24, we welcome Chef Courtney Carden, She gained most of her experience when she ran and owned Petes's Pierside Cafe in Avila Beach. She currently works as a personal chef and does catering. Starting at noon on Friday, Courtney will be doing a cooking demo with veggies from our farm ... along with giving free samples of her creations!
DOGS...DOGS...DOGS..
We seem to have more and more dogs accompanying their owners as they shop at our farm stand . For obvious reasons, pets should not be allowed to be in the area where the fruits and vegetables are displayed and sold. As our loyal and valued customers, I would hope you would understand this request ( and Health Dept. law ).
And by the way, I am not a dog hater...just ask my dog Emma...she'll tell you I'm a dog lover!
NEW ITEMS AT THE FARM STAND
3 new varieties of potatoes...
Russian Banana Fingerlings, Halcyon Red and Halcyon Gold. These first diggings of the season are called "new potatoes". Their skins haven't quite matured yet, so they are not good as storage potatoes...they are great eating now, just use them within a week or so of purchase.
Rainbow carrots...bunches of carrots with red, white, purple, yellow and orange carrots in each bunch.
Italian basil...what more to be said!
We have
raspberry and
blackberry plants for sale in 1 gallon pots. Take home a pot or two and start your own berry patch!
Our strawberry field continues to be open for u-pick each Tuesday through Friday from noon to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Bring the family out for a fun time picking our delicious strawberries. Bring your own containers or use our baskets to pick into. The price will be $3.00 per pound, which works out to be about $3.00 per one pint basket ( our regular price when purchased already picked at the stand is $3.50 /basket ).
Due to the rains last week, many of the ripe berries turned rotten and the plants have slowed down their production. There are still plenty of berries for you to pick, just not as many as in the previous weeks.
We are now open till 6 pm on Tuesday through Fridays! You can now make over to the farm stand after work and pick up some fresh veggies and berries for dinner.
Our "summer" hours are Tuesdays through Fridays, noon to 6 pm and Saturdays, 10 am to 4 pm.
