Runoff Election Day

TUESDAY, AUGUST 11th

August 11 is the runoff  for several DeKalb County elections. I will be voting as a House District 82 citizen in the following contests:

Superior Court Judge Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit -  Yolanda C. Parker-Smith v. Melinda "Mindy" Pillow
DeKalb County Commissioner Super District 6 -  Maryam Ahmad v.Ted Terry
Incumbent DeKalb County Sheriff (for completion of her appointed term) - I'll vote for incumbent Melody Maddox, who won the election for Sheriff for next term.

If you want to see the final results for these and all other races from the June 9 Primary, go to this link:  Secretary Of State Election Results DeKalb County

If you do not live in House District 82, there are other DeKalb County races for your consideration.

Outside DeKalb, there are important Congressional races in runoffs.  I am a strong supporter for Carolyn Bordeaux for U.S. House District 7, who barely avoided a runoff to proceed to the November election against Republican Rich McCormick, who also narrowly avoided a runoff. So you'll be hearing more about that race to flip the 7th as November approaches.

Absentee Ballots

As you probably know, Secretary of State Raffensperger is NOT mailing to you an application for an Absentee Ballot for either the August or November elections. To vote absentee, you MUST REQUEST an application for a ballot.

When you applied for an absentee ballot previously, you may have checked a box that you want ballots mailed to you for all remaining elections in 2020.

BUT, TO BE SURE you obtain an Absentee Ballot, please follow the helpful instructions posted by Decaturish. This week the DeKalb Election Board is meeting to consider other options, and I will inform you of their actions.

Remember to VOTE on AUGUST 11, and feel free to email back if you have questions!

Stay safe and keep in touch, everyone!
