Joint Event at Ohavi Zedek

It is a centuries-old tradition to study into the night on the evening of Shavuot to honor the giving of the 10 Commandments.  Our "Tikkun Leil Shavuot" this year is with Ohavi Zedek, and will include an engaging range of topics of study, and singing sessions, with cheesecake and a short service between the two learning sessions.  Rabbi Edleson will be leading Shavuot singing and a study on the Book of Ruth focusing on conversion and inclusion.  Other Temple Sinai members will be leading a session on law and its role in creating a holy society.  See the attached flyer for details.

Sunday, June 9 | 10:00am

Celebrate the giving of the 10 Commandments, and celebrate Temple Sinai's birthday with our Festival Service.  The service will be full of singing, and will highlight the chanting of the 10 Commandments.  A dairy Oneg will follow.

WE'RE BACK

After too long a hiatus the Chaverim Committee (AKA-Caring Committee) is back in action with Deb Leopold and Amy Collins as co-chairs. They are excited to be heading up this very necessary committee for our Temple community. If you enjoy helping friends in times of need, please consider joining our "non-committee" committee--no regular meetings, just the warm, fuzzy feeling you get from helping others. Email us if you are interested at [email protected]

We have a number of initiatives that we are currently engaged in:
  • Card Team--sends birthdays cards monthly, get well and condolence cards as needed and we are always looking for helping hands for this.
  • Providing rides for members to Temple services/events.
  • Meals for members during difficult times.
  • Visits to home-bound members.
  • Comfort Shawls (please get out your knitting needles)
  • The third Friday of each month is designated Birthday Shabbat.  Chaverim provides a birthday cake, but we aren't able to host the entire oneg each month.  So, feel free to host one of the birthday onegs.
Coming soon-- Salsa Dancing. We are hoping to have a Salsa dance event sometime in June.  More details to follow as things develop.
thanks

Dear Temple Sinai Members and Friends,

As I write this, I am still reeling from the wonderful honor you showed me at Teacher Appreciation Shabbat.

Aside from the wonderful accolades and gifts, which I cherish and appreciate, I am so grateful to be part of this warm, loving community that has been such a huge part of my life these past 20 years.

I am heartened to know that I have touched so many lives, but even more, my life has been so enriched by all of you. I am very humbled and honored to have the love and support of our Temple community.

Ben Zoma said: "Who is rich? Those who are happy with their portion." (Babylonian Talmud, Shabbat 32a also found in Pirkei Avot 4:1). I am, indeed, a very rich person.

Several folks have asked to see the necklace so I'm enclosing a picture. It contains the first line of the Priestly Blessing from Numbers 6:24 -Yivarechecha Adonai viyishmirecha

May God bless you and guard you,

Judy Alexander
