NEW GUIDELINES:
  • Gov. Jared Polis announced Monday that his stay-at-home order will expire on April 26 but some restrictions will remain in place starting April 27. There will be a transition period through May 4 into what the governor called a “Safer-At-Home” set of guidelines. 
  • While details and guidelines are still being developed and released, Broomfield Public Health Department officials need time to evaluate the specifics and how they impact the community. Broomfield is working with other metro area health departments on how to best coordinate efforts from a regional perspective. Watch the Governor’s Press Conference regarding reopening.   • Safer-At-Home guidelines starting April 27:
  • Wear masks when you're not at home.
  • No gatherings of ten or more.
  • Schools remain closed.
  • Personal service providers and elective medical providers, including hair salons, dental offices and tattoo shops, will be able to reopen with some precautions.
  • Bars & restaurants remain closed with re-evaluation of phased reopening in mid-May. Takeout and curbside pickup is still available.
  • Offices: 50% open with strict precautions:
  • Guidelines for large workplaces.
  • Telecommuting is still recommended.
  • Vulnerable populations remain on stay-at-home.
  • The State of Colorado is helping with COVID-19 proactive testing at long-term care facilities, including Broomfield Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on April 22 (date changed from the time of the press release). Read the full press release.

Telephone Town Hall: Join the Telephone Town Hall Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m. Residents can call 855.695.3744 the night of, or sign up to be called directly . RSVP and share the Facebook event for updates as well. Town Hall audio is now streamed live on Channel 8 as well. Thank you to the 1,581 participants that joined the Telephone Town Hall last week. If you are not able to make it, listen to the available recording .

Pick it up, Broomfield! Make a difference while spending time in your local outdoor spaces on Earth Day, April 22. Take these easy steps to keep Broomfield Beautiful:
  1. Grab a bag from home 
  2. Pick up trash at your favorite neighborhood open space, park, trail or greenway
  3. Throw it out at home (please don’t use park trash receptacles as more residents enjoying Broomfield open spaces, parks and trails during the stay at home order means bins are already full from regular use)
  4. Snap a selfie
  5. Post on social media using #WeAreBroomfield
GOAL: Broomfield, can 50 residents share photos to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day? Tell your neighbors to jump in to pick it up!
Tune in to the Broomfield Library’s NEW daily, live virtual storytime at 9:45 a.m everyday this week.
City Updates
  • Senior Storyline launched this week at the library. Seniors (and any other interested community members) can call in to 720.887.2311 and hear a poem or story read aloud by library staff. The storyline changes every Monday.
  • Thank you for donating up to 100 masks over the weekend, bringing the total to 161 donated masks from the community. Library and inventHQ staff have sewn 482 fabric masks and distributed 465 masks to Broomfield residents, non-profits, and CCOB staff. They will deliver 134 masks today.
  • Enhance Broomfield award letters are finalized and being sent to additional 40 impacted businesses. Total applications stand at 115, with 47 awards made as of today.
  • Bridge the Gap has received 81 applications to households in need of housing assistance and has approved almost $50,000 worth of funding.
Federal/State Update:
  • Congress is considering legislation which adds funding to reopen the U.S. SBA’s Paycheck Protection and Economic Injury Disaster programs. Economic Vitality staff, following the CO OED-IT’s lead, continue to recommend Broomfield businesses complete applications for both these programs (if applicable) to be ready to submit once funding is passed and SBA and banks reopen the program.
  • As part of statewide effort, the Colorado’s Office of Economic Development is asking Colorado businesses to fill out a survey to inform them on how businesses are dealing with COVID-19 and the related public actions. Take the survey. The information will be used for advocacy for federal and state programs, and other initiates.
  • In response to COVID-19, state agencies, and community partners launched onwardco.org. This site connects people with services, funds & jobs during the crisis. Please visit and share with anyone who may need the help.
  • Are you having symptoms like a dry cough, fever or shortness of breath? Filling out Colorado’s symptom tracker can help public health officials understand when and where outbreaks are occurring. Fill out the symptom tracker.

  • Use NextDoor’s Neighborhood Help Map to find neighbors in your area that are able to help in a variety of ways, such as phone check-ins, pet care and more. Follow all safety guidelines and requirements while getting helping or providing help to neighbors.

  • For Businesses: 
  • Visit Broomfield.org/COVIDEconomicSupport for information and links to help businesses and employees sustain through this downturn and support the rebuilding of the local economy. 
  • For Employers: Updated information about the U.S. SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program and the Emergency Injury Disaster Loans. Your business lending partners are now taking applications for both loan programs.
  • For Employees: A direct link to file for the expanded Unemployment Insurance programs and benefits and information on other programs, such as Bridging the Gap.
  • For Residents to Support Businesses: Information about local businesses serving the community, with adjusted service and hours. 
  • Businesses can apply for the Enhance Broomfield program, which offers a one-time grant of up to $7,500 which can be used for operating expenses including rent, wages, marketing, utilities, and supplies. The application is also a good step forward in filling out an application for a U.S. SBA loan if a business decided to do so.
  • Support Resources for Colorado Businesses During COVID-19 is a resource site hosted by the Colorado Office of Economic Development.
How you can help
  • Donate Blood: There is an urgent need for blood donations. Visit Vitalant.org or call 303.363.2300 for scheduling or questions.
  • Donate Money:
  • Donate to the Disaster Relief fund through the Broomfield Community Foundation.
  • There is an immediate need for ”stay-at-home” alternatives for unhoused neighbors living in Broomfield. The Towneplace Suites has offered a special rate but additional funding is needed. Donate to the Emergency Sheltering fund through the Broomfield Community Foundation so folks have a place to stay until the end of April.
  • Do you have unspent lunch funds in your student's account? You can donate these funds directly to the emergency food program that supports BVSD families in need through The School Food Project. It's as simple as filling out three questions on this form. Since Friday, 325 families have donated their unused funds. Thank you!
  • Donate Food: FISH is asking the community to help donate the following most needed items: peanut butter, oatmeal, canned meat, mac & cheese, and spaghettios.

  • A Precious Child is accepting cleaning supplies and hygiene items listed on their Amazon wishlists.
  • inventHQ is looking for materials to continue making masks for the community. The following items can be dropped off, in a sealed ziptop bag, at the Library Book Drop:
  • Washed 100% cotton or linen fabric, (no smaller than 1/4 yard, please)
  • Interfacing (Light to medium weight, non-woven, fusible or sew-in)
  • Elastic (¾” wide or less)

  • The Broomfield VOAD is encouraging healthy volunteers to assist FISH at their facility. Sign-up to volunteer at FISH.
  • Are you a medical professional? Sign up to volunteer.
  • Governor Jared Polis created the Colorado Covid-19 Innovation Response Team to introduce telehealth/telemedicine service supporting approximately 800,000 uninsured and under-served Coloradans. Help the team provide health services while reducing strain on healthcare facilities, leaving hospital beds open to the most severely ill.
