This Week at Christ Church
Urgent in-Kind Donations Needed
Shelter in Mexicali
Late last week our Service Ministry Team learned that the Cobina A. C. shelter and community center in Mexicali, Mexico, burned to the ground. Thankfully the 152 otherwise unsheltered children, teens, migrants, seniors, and members of the LGBTQ+ community staying there escaped with their lives, but they lost everything they owned. We are working with an elected official in Imperial Beach and our wonderful Thrift Shop to get much needed supplies to these vulnerable neighbors. If you can donate any of the following items, please bring them to church on Sunday, July 25. We will deliver them that afternoon, so this is a very short donation opportunity!

Needed items:
Diapers in sizes 1-6
Baby formula
Personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, feminine products)
Clothes (all ages/sizes)
Shoes (all sizes/ages)

Backpack Drive
Several ways to help out
This Sunday July 25th we will be a blessing of the backpacks for North County Lifeline. Thanks to your generous contributions, 100 kiddos will be gifted a bag and school supplies for the upcoming year. Blessings to all who contribute the time, energy, and resources to keep this great tradition of support going!
Sunday Worship
In the courtyard at 10:00 a.m.
We look forward to seeing you at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday for outdoor worship in the courtyard. Morning Prayer is now online Sundays on Zoom! Grab your Book of Common Prayer and join Deacon Tom Morelli for at 10:00 a.m. We will continue to host Zoom Sunday services through Labor Day.

Wendy Waddell Performs in Upcoming Play
Reserve Tickets Today
The La Jolla Playhouse is performing a play called "Not-for-profit (or the equity, diversity, inclusion play)" which focuses on RiseUP, an education non-profit that wants to do right by the community it serves. However, a sudden scandal threatens their "well-intentioned" work.

One of Christ Church's own members, Wendy Waddell (daughter of Linda Benning) is in the play. There are two performances, Thursday, July 29, and Saturday, July 31, at 7:30pm. Tickets are free, but reservations are required due to limited seating.

Please join me in supporting the Playhouse in the important work they are doing for social justice. You can reserve tickets by phone, 858-550-1010, or through their website, www.lajollaplayhouse.org.
In Memoriam
Diaman MacKedsey
Longtime Christ Church member Diaman MacKedsey recently passed away. She was a active thrift shop volunteer, and led the Christ Church Episcopal Women's Group. There will be a graveside memorial service at 10am on Saturday, July 24, followed by a reception coordinated by Daughters of the King in the courtyard after the service. She will be buried next to her sister Jeanne Angel.

Diaman was born February 12, 1932 and passed away May 2, 2021 after living in Coronado since the late 1970’s. She is seen here waving in the picture to the left.
Jacqueline “Jackie” Haney
Jackie was born on November 6, 1942 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was called home to our Lord on July 14, 2021 in San Clemente, CA. Jackie moved to Coronado in 1997 and was a proud member of Christ Church for 20 years. She loved Christ Church and the City of Coronado.
