UUFF eNews - Week of October 16, 2019
Service this Sunday- October 20, 2019
Sunday, 10/20/19, 11am Service: "Earthship UU Fayetteville." Our stewardship of UUFF is a voyage to the future. Service led by Rev. Jim Parrish.

10am Sunday Adult Religious Education (ARE) options:
ARE Discussion Group: Meets downstairs in common room. Topic: "The Dangers of Hate Speech." Remember the old saying, "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words cannot hurt me."
Let's talk about the impacts of hate speech.

Meditation will be held at 10:00, followed by a short reading and discussion between 10:30-
10:45. It doesnʼt matter what type of meditation you do, or if you have ever meditated before, you
are welcome to come meditate in the UUFF Annex building (across Storer from UUFF in the west-
nearest Storer-side of the annex). ALL ARE WELCOME. Enter through the front door.

10am RE for kids 5+ continues today! All are invited to meet in room 2 downstairs at 10am for Religious Exploration, before rejoining adults for the 11 o’clock service. Children understand themselves as "stewards"—that is, people with ability and responsibility to contribute to the care of people, animals, and places they love, such as family, friends, pets, their school, the congregation, and the earth we share. Activities encourage participants to see themselves as generous people, with time, talent, and possibly financial resources (treasure) they can share to help take care of the congregation. The ritual for this session is the offertory, and the story is a wisdom tale from Islam about generosity. * Parents, since our focus this week is on stewardship, please consider helping your child to bring a can of soup for donation to Cooperative Emergency Outreach. *

Sunday Nursery Services available 9:45am – 12:15pm
Next Sunday, October 27th, 11am, is UUFF's annual Remembrance Ceremony. Attendees are invited to bring a photo or memento of someone (pets are people, too!) you have lost and wish to hold in your heart during this very special time of year. An altar will be set up for placement of the items, if you wish, so that we all can share in the special remembrance, as a community of love and support.
SUNDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - GREETER/USHER and COFFEE HOUR HOSTING!

Saturday, October 19th, and additional volunteers are desperately needed!
Several volunteers STILL needed - both make casseroles and to set-up/serve/clean-up. The group meets at 11am at Genesis Church on MLK Jr. Blvd. If you are interested in literally "serving" those within our community in need of a good meal, please sign up HERE. Gretchen Wilkes ( gwilkes@farmcards.org ) is available for any questions you may have about being a part of this profoundly important local social justice project.
New UU Fall Session- "New UU" is a two-meeting series of exploration into Unitarian Universalism and what it means to become a UUFF member. EVEN IF YOU MISSED 10/13 CLASS, PLEASE KNOW YOU ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND THE 10/20 CLASS! 5:30-8pm in UUFF Sanctuary - Dinner provided and childcare available upon request.

These classes are purely informative and are a great chance to connect. We'd love to have you there.
Justice Meet-up will be held on Sunday, October 20th, at 12:15pm in the back of the Sanctuary. Passionate about social justice? Share your ideas and get involved in upcoming projects. We will be talking about the calendar for next year, so please think about possible activities for 2020.
A Thanksgiving Potluck Lunch will be held at UUFF on Thursday, November 28th. Sign up to bring a dish or help set-up/clean-up HERE!
The beloved annual tradition continues! ALL ARE WELCOME to join in this special time of good food and great "fellowshipping." Bring friends!
Good News! Long-time UUFF member Anne Prichard has kindly offered to take on the role of being our Archivist/Historian once again! The archives have not been consistently kept since Anne had to step away in 2015, so if you have any newspaper articles, etc. having to do with UUFF and/or it's members, especially from 2015-current (and ongoing!), PLEASE do bring them in to the office so that the information can be added to our history!

Outside Events & Opportunities
UUFF's own Renée Janski bringing concert to the fellowship on Friday, October 18th, from 7-10pm!

Two world class story-singers join forces for one night in Fayetteville! Join us for an intimate evening of magic and music in the lovely listening room atmosphere of UUFF! Extra special thanks to the delicious Renée Janski for mid-wifing this concert to bring it into being with us.

Canadian performer Leslie Hudson is what happens when Tori Amos and Loreena McKennitt swap set lists, and folktales become character studies of the female psyche. A powerhouse vocalist with piano in tow, this endlessly touring musician is wending her way from the west coast home to ON playing songs that illustrate the Inner Circle of the mind, aspects to which we give voice. With inspiration drawn from life, history, myth and pop culture, this award-winning songwriter cuts deep to the marrow of story and sings it to the surface. Raw passion, arresting performance, music that matters. Song. Story. Strength. http://lesliehudson.com

Arkansan songwriter S. J. Tucker is the voice of lore at the campfire and the sharp laughter of modern myth. Named “the voice of neotribal Paganism” by Witches & Pagans Magazine, Tucker is a fixture at festivals and in playlists worldwide. With deft guitar, skillful hand drums, and a siren’s compelling multilayered vocals, she wields an award-winning body of original music known for changing lives and healing wounded hearts, and her performances run the gamut from silly to sacred and back again. Songs and stories, community and wit. http://sjtucker.com

UUFF is invited to help celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Fayetteville's Temple Shalom! Celebration is set for Sunday, November 3rd, from 1-4pm (NOT 2-4pm as RSVP form may still indicate). If you'd like to attend, please view invite and RSVP HERE . You can also email to office@templeshalomnwa.org
