Mardi Gras Dance Bash in Calabash—
Review by Dr. Veronica Collings
The Bash at the Calabash Elks Club on February 29 was another great sold out success. Not just the usual stuff like fabulous decorations and great music. The best part for me was the opportunity to share the love of dance with those who considered themselves non-dancers. There were quite a few.
Although, I don’t think there is such a thing as a non-dancer. Dancing is part of our physiology. Humans have been moving their body to music for thousands of years. Amongst other things, this releases the joy producing endorphins from our brains. It’s no wonder dancing is addictive.

Andy Ray and Bunny have an extensive resume of entertaining for ballroom groups in NJ. We are excited about their debut for our Members. This party is for our

If you have been thinking about becoming a member, you still have time to join before the party.
About our memberships—
The cos

SOLD OUT EVENTS—
Some of you are experiencing for the first time being placed on a waiting list to get into our events. This is good news for BDPS but not so good for those who waited too long to purchase tickets. BDPS strives to offer quality dance experiences and if the dance floor is too crowded you will not be happy. We have grown our dance community and word is getting around that people enjoy our dances so we expect to continue to cap dances held at certain venues.
The dances are advertised well in advance and updates such as
tickets are going fast
are provided in our weekly newsletters. The good news is that—so far—we have not had to limit attendance at our primary venue, St. John's Hall, so you can count on dancing with us every First Thursday.

BRUNSWICK SENIOR RESOURCE CENTER BALLROOM CLASSES
|
|
WOW,
almost all of Sal's students from his classes came out to dance at our Mardi Gras Bash in Calabash. We think you'll be seeing more of these folks out on the dance floor!
During March the Intermediate class at 1 pm will be working on Cha Cha. The beginner class at 2 pm will be working on East Coast Swing.
BDPS
sponsors these lessons every Monday afternoon. The lessons are free but the Center in Calabash is a non-profit and they appreciate your contributions so they can continue to provide quality activities such as our ballroom classes. There are collection boxes throughout the center.

FUNDRAISER FOR ALZHEIMER'S LONGEST DAY AT TOPGOLF—
We are surveying to find out if there is enough interest in participating in a Fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Longest Day. The potential date would be Father's Day, Sunday, June 21 from 4 pm to 7 pm. If you don't know much about the facility you can visit their website at topgolf.com, but it's like a driving range only a lot more fun. An American Buffet would be included. The ticket price would be $100 per person and 100% of the profit would be donated to the local Alzheimer's Chapter. This is not a dance event but a chance to know each other better, have fun together, and raise money for a good cause.
|
|
Would you be interested in attending a Topgolf Fundraiser for Alzheimers?
|
Yes, and Father's Day would be a good date
|
|
|
