Greetings!
October is the start of the Immediate Needs-focused quarter as well as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. To commemorate the month, we invited our Community Impact Partner, Peaceful Paths, to share a special report.
"
Peaceful Paths has been serving survivors and their families for more than 45 years in Alachua, Bradford and Union counties. Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) continues to be a serious criminal concern and social issue both nationally, and in our own communities. Over the past twelve months, more than 36,000 services were provided to survivors and their children through our residential and outreach programs, and we continue to see increasing demand.
"Peaceful Paths provides comprehensive services to address all levels of survivor healing and empowerment. Our 24-hour hotline, 352-377-8255, handles more than 200 calls per month. Our team of advocates assist survivors through emergency housing, safety planning, securing safe and affordable housing, financial-literacy courses and credit repair, and legal advice and referrals. Community professionals offer group, individual and family counseling services. To better serve survivor needs, our Child and Youth team offers concurrent childcare during all programming and outreach hours. All services provided to clients are free and confidential.
"We know the impact of IPV affects all demographics and we are working with young people across our service area to promote healthy relationships free of violence, and create youth leaders with a new dialogue. Last year, our prevention efforts were offered to over 5,100 students.
"Our mission is to
Save Lives and Create Change,
which would not be possible without the hel
p of our community partners, volunteers, interns, and donors."
Peaceful Paths is one of our many Community Impact Partners to have programs funded through the Community Investment Fund. Currently, Peaceful Paths has four programs funded through the Community Investment Fund:
Violence Against Women Rural Underserved, Violence Prevention & Intervention, Financial Literacy & Economic Empowerment and Emergency Shelter - Campus Housing Project.
