Open to All: Food Distribution Every Wednesday at The Glades Initiative

The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come first-serve basis. 

Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

Food Distributions in the Glades

The Glades Initiative Food Distribution Every Wednesday (Open to Everyone)

For the past year and a half, and continuing into the future, The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Palm Beach County Food Finder Map

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Grab 'n Go Meals (For Ages 18 and under)

Children and families can access free meals for kids 18 and under at more than 100 BreakSpot Grab ‘n Go sites around the County. Meals are FREE to anyone under 18 years of age (under 22 for ESE students), regardless of financial need. Hunger Relief is working with the School District of Palm Beach County, FLIPANY, Feeding South Florida, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County sites.

Belle Glade Career Center Reopens Dec 9

CareerSource Palm Beach County’s newly remodeled West Career Center is reopening
to the public. All services will be available for clients including the use of computers and printers for job searches, individual skills assessments and assistance with reemployment services. CareerSource staff and services were moved nearby to a temporary location in Oct. while renovations took place.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.

Healthier Glades Mini Grant applications will be available from Monday, November 23rd to Wednesday, December 16th, 2020. Youth In Preparation (Y-Prep) Afterschool Program

From Y-Prep: Y-Prep afterschool program would like introduce and educate families on our mental health services. We also have an instructional assistance day program for children attending school virtually whose parents are not able to be home with them. Our services are provided in person or virtually as requested. We are Medicaid funded therefore services are free to children and families who meet the requirements. We also have a sliding fee scale for families who do not have Medicaid, Florida Healthy Kids, or Florida KidCare. We also provide meals and transport to and from the center. FREE Virtual Perinatal & Infant Loss Grief Support Groups

From the Children's Bereavement Center: The CBC is a non-profit organization with over 20 years of experience providing free grief support groups to children, teens, and adults after the loss of a loved one. As of 2017, the CBC has hosted in-person grief support groups in Palm Beach County with our location being at St. Andrew's School in Boca Raton. Since COVID-19, however, our support groups remain virtual through Zoom and meet on a weekly basis.
