May 4 election results
The City of Lakeway, in partnership with the Travis County Clerk’s Office, conducted a general election on May 4 to elect a Mayor and three Councilmembers. The unofficial results, as reported by Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir, show Sandy Cox winning the mayoral election with Sanjeev Kumar, Doug Howell, and Gretchen Vance being the successful candidates for three open City Council seats. DeBeauvoir will certify the election results on May 15 after all absentee and mail-in ballots are counted, and the Lakeway City Council will canvass the election results at a special meeting on May 15. The new Councilmembers will be sworn in by Municipal Court Judge Kevin Madison at the regular City Council meeting on May 20 at 6:30 PM.  


Comprehensive plan town hall meeting
A Town Hall Meeting will be held at the Activity Center from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on May 16 at which time a snapshot of the comprehensive plan survey results will be shared. The Town Hall Meeting will include further discussion regarding City demographics, economic data, and land use considerations. Citizen participation in the survey and at the Town Hall Meeting are important to developing Lakeway’s future plan. Please mark your calendars for this important event!

Ribbon cutting ceremony for new police station on May 11
After three years of designing, planning and building, the new Lakeway Police Station became operational on April 15. The city will be celebrating with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The police station is located at 1941 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway, TX 78734.

Get ready for another exciting evening of music and fun on Monday, May 13 at Big Band Bash. Put on your dancing shoes and bring your own beverages and snacks to the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek Road. Enjoy big band music from the 17-piece  Republic of Texas Big Band , featuring David Cummings and Lisa Clark on vocals. This event is free and open to all ages. The deadline for the Art's Committee PhotoFest is May 13. Photos taken by students will be judged separately. All of the photos received will be reviewed by a committee that will select representative examples of each category taken by citizens for display. There will be a “Best Picture” in each category and a “Best of Show” photo.
