Abington - 6th Annual SBS PTO Freaky Family 5K Fun Run & Walk Sat, Oct 19th, 8:45 - 11:45a. The race is 5 km or 3.1 miles, there will also be a 1.5 mile walk and a 1/2 mile kids fun run (for kids 8 and under). Costumes are highly encouraged and will be rewarded. Awards will be presented to the Top 3 Overall Men and Women and for the Top 3 in many age groups. All kids will receive a medal. A post race celebration you won't want to miss will be held at Saint Bridget School. There will be food, music, haunted house, and entertainment for the whole family. Each year we donate a portion of our proceeds to needy local member(s) of our community. Please help us support these worthy recipients.

Calvin Mires, Ph.D. Dr. Mires will talk about the filming of their documentary & their findings. Adventure awaits! On Nov 26, 1898, SS Portland, a 280-foot side-paddle-wheeler, sunk into the Atlantic Ocean with no survivors. In 2019, Dr. Calvin Mires collaborated with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, managers, cinematographers, and engineers and numerous oceanographic agencies to understand the current condition of the historic vessel by documenting the shipwreck with state-of-the-art technology in underwater exploration and public outreach. Approximately one hour long with ample time for questions and answers. Venue is handicap accessible with direct access from the parking lot. RSVP is not required. Bridgewater - Church Rummage Sale Sat, Oct 19th, 9:00a - 2:00p at Central Square Congregational Church, 71 Central Sq. Featured will be clothing, shoes, linens, household items, jewelry, books, toys and small furniture. Bag Sale starts at 1:00 PM. The “Soups On” luncheon will feature a variety of homemade soups, sandwiches and hot dogs with an assortment of condiments. Take out available! There will also be a gourmet bake table. Proceeds from the sale benefit various local mission projects. 

Bridgewater - Benefit Breakfast Sat, Oct 19th, 8 - 11a, 40 Orange St. The Greenhouse and Gardens Program at the Brockton VA Hospital provides rehabilitation and vocational training to veterans living with mental illness,substance addictions and those with physical challenges. All proceeds from the breakfast and raffles will be donated to the program .We will also be collecting new or gently used clay or glass pots, dish gardens, seeds, bulbs, potting soil. Fairy garden figures, plant food and any other gardening item ( no large gardening tools ) Anyone donating an item will be entered into a special raffle. $8 donation for adults and $5 for kids. Children under 2 eat for free! Veterans with ID eat for free.
Brockton - Brockton Nature Festival Sat, Oct 19, 10a - 1p at Stone Farm Conservation Area
661 Torrey St. Wildlands Trust is hosting the Brockton Nature Festival to celebrate the grand reopening of Stone Farm and promote the community groups who are helping to make Brockton a vibrant and healthy city. This FREE, all-ages event will run from 10a - 1p on the Torrey Street baseball field. Enjoy nature walks on the Stone Farm trail system, delicious foods from C&J Soul Food, nature crafts for kids, interactive displays by the Brockton High School Envirothon team, demos and games with Merrell Footwear, and much more!

The Famous APCSM Bake sale is held the second weekend of every month and features the best our volunteer bakers have to offer from sweet treats to savory breads. We even offer some vegan items! All proceeds go to help care for the animals at the shelter on their journey home.

Plymouth - Hike at Long Duck Pond Preserve Sun, Oct 20th, 1p. Explore this Plymouth conservation land with Wildlands Trust volunteer hike leaders! Hike with Skip Stuck and Betsy Hall at Long Duck Pond Preserve, a conservation area that contains three Wildlands Trust properties, Town of Plymouth Conservation properties, and Mass Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) properties. We will pass through pine barrens, transition forests, and older forests as we traverse a 4-mile loop. This hike is over moderately challenging terrain with steep hills. Well behaved dogs are welcome but must remain on-leash. Ages 12+. Parking is at Plymouth South Elementary School, 178 Bourne Rd.

Taunton - Liberty & Union Fall Festival Sat, Oct 19, noon - 4p. Liberty and Union Weekend is an annual celebration of the unique role that the City of Taunton played in our nation’s founding. The Weekend is held each fall to commemorate the events of October 1774, when Taunton became the first community in the American colonies to raise a flag – the “Liberty and Union” flag – in opposition to British rule. Programs will include 18th century re-enactors and artisans, farming and livestock displays, a ceremonial flag-raising and free pumpkin decorating for children. Taunton - Animals of Massasoit State Park Sat, Oct 19, 2 - 4p. Stop by anytime between 2pm and 4pm to see a display of pelts and skulls of animals that live here in the woods of Massasoit State Park.
